I agree with a previous sentiment, the beauty of the watch drives me to choose colour.
I have a Pepsi, which I bought for the following reasons: 1. Its the classic blue/red colour that Rolex designed for PanAM, who drove the design of a multiple time zone watch in the 1950s. I wanted the historical original. 2. Blue and red were not only the Pan Am company colours, but the two colours make a great visual cue for quick-glance reference (blue=night red=day) at your second time zone. My Sea Dweller is black, but the polished coin-edge bezel is so blingy that I reckon it stands out more than the Pepsi. Both watches have only ever been noticed by fellow WIS, and once by someone who thought my Pepsi was a Seiko diver......... The colours are just very visually stimulating, and I like them for the same reasons I like Matisse and Monet...all the more interesting that those colours exist on a high-end watch. Like they say, if you have to explain it........... Best, C |

I was never really impressed with expensive watches until 1989, the year my grandfather passed away in Sicily, Italy. I was left his vintage watch, which I gave to my (still living) grandmother. I then realised that no greater heirloom existed more so than a beautiful watch.
8 Years later I bought my first Omega, a Seamaster, which I wore for 10 years (along the way I bought 2 more Omegas). Since I now wear my Sub, I gave my original Seamaster to my dad to wear. It is all banged up, faded, scratched, as it's travelled the world with me so many times, and I love that it represents my history, and that's what my dad loves about it. I plan on wearing my Sub for the next 20 years, which I will then pass onto my (future) son, all banged up, scratched, faded, but again, full of my history... |

I frequently notice Rolex watches. I am by no means a fine timepiece expert but nothing catches my eye quicker that the bezel of a Rolex. I believe it was previously referred to as a "Coin Edge". No other watch brand seems to sparkle like that. I am one of those people that will offer the "nice watch" comment to strangers. The only non Rolex I have ever spotted was a Breitling at the blackjack table in Vegas, and I asked him if it was a Rolex.

Here's a story..
I very very nearly bought the two tone GMT II. However, when the dealer appeared with the stainless version (as I was pondering said purchase) I was stunned at how much "better" it looked. Of course, this is all personal opinion and if rolex sold the thing in white gold I'd have bought that. I love rolexes but I like 'em just a little bit understated. Perhaps they'll bring out a WG version in '08? |

I could care less if someone notices it. I have some images on my school computer and the kids see them, then the obvious question. I let them get over it and we move on.

You know I have to think, the only people who have ever commented on my Rolex watches, are other Rolex wearers! It is like there is a common bond amongst Rolex wearers (we all are in debt? All been told we are crazy for spending so much money on a watch? All cherish old school vintage mechanical things? Who know, but a bond is there).

I definitely don't want people noticing my watch. Most of my good friends don't even know my GMT-II is a Rolex. They don't ask, and I don't talk about it.
Frankly, I'm a little ashamed of it. It was a gift, and I wear it and appreciate it, but I have friends whose cars are worth less than my watch. Plus, I don't want to be known as the Rolex guy. Sorry, guys, but where I come from, fancy jewelry on a man -- especially a Rolex -- doesn't present a positive image. |

If the Rolex was a gift, someone must really care for you.You should wear the gift with love, not guilt. |

In my case, when I work, with a dress shirt you can`t see it and when I`m not working or have a home office day, I dress like a beach bum, in a trendy kind of way, so I`m sure if its noticed people would like, there is no way thats a rolex. :-) Prolly the same about my cars; Now Rose where do think he stole that car?

Rolex guilt is never good. I still have a little bit in me... I tend to "hide" my watch when friends are around. I really don't know why.

My GMT-II was a college graduation gift from my father, and I really do cherish it. Plus, it's a kickass watch, so how could I not? But I still hide it when I can. It's not so much the fact that it's an expensive watch. I have other watches that were quite pricey [also gifts]. But it's a lot easier to down-play, say, an IWC, compared to a Rolex. It's kind of ironic, but I'd probably feel more at ease sporting a Patek. |

Rolex design is known by pretty much every human being on this planet (and by some sheep, too, btw). But an IWC or Patek only WIS would recognize, but wearing either of those magnificent brands would give YOU that feeling of wearing something very, very special.
