No they won't, but they will pay the towing if it's not running plus pay your rental and up to a week of hotels if you are on a trip and delayed due to parts not in stock.
I agree with the OP,if you want to sell premium stuff, treat the customer in the same manner. When you sell $500.00 cost watch that retails for 8K the customer should not be asked to pay freight while on warranty. It's a Mickey Mouse way of dealing.

Stay away from Ben Bridge Jewelers. I once went into their South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, Ca store for a free steam cleaning. i came home with the watch and noticed a dent in the case and the crown was just about welded onto the case. i couldn't even open it. i complained to the Seattle, HQ and nobody would take responsibility. I had to send it to the Dallas Servicenter for a $700 overhaul. They did a beautiful job on the watch. I owned that Rolex Seadweller 4000 for over 16 years and never had a scratch on it. Take my word of advice.

If the watch is under warranty, having ANY work of ANY kind by anyone other than Rolex will void your warranty.

Yep, ship it directly to the RSC. USPS Registered. I've always insured it for full value as well.
Rolex will whip it open, probably do a full service and regulate it, and return it no charge.
Send in a copy of the warranty card. I'd never send in the original.

As opposed to the seller sending it to "their watchmaker" who will open it, regulate it, and send it back.

Wouldn't you rather get the full service if it might need it?
Rolex will be able to figure out how old the lubrivcant it, and make the call.

it's less than a year old so should be no issue with old lubricant....but it's possible there could be some defect in the watch and if so, I should find out while it's under warranty

If you live in San Diego, there must be plenty of Rolex-certified watchmakers who'd do that regulation under warranty and if not they could do it for the price of shipping or less, surely.

I just don't see a need to ship to an RSC to do a regulation.

Methinks Rolex looks at their secret records, determines when it was sealed at the factory, and counts from there. Rather than from the date it left the AD. My first Rolex was a year old, fast, and Rolex gave it a complete service before regulating it.

I saw bite the bullet and send it to Rolex RSC. Most likely All the dealer will do is send it to them if under warranty. I don't think the dealer is wrong.

I shipped my watch to RCS in Dallas. they reimbursed me for my cost to ship. They did a complete service and now 4 weeks later, I have my watch back.
Quite pleased with service.....now I'll need to monitor the time...hopefully it will be closer to perfect.
thanks for all your advice

When something happen with my Rolex (or another watch, no need to have bought at this AD) I can go to my AD and he will send them to Rolex for free. If I want he come to my house and take them or when the watch is back from Rolex he will bring me at home.
Now that is service my friend.

I had to pay the $50 when I had my watch repaired. And sadly, I was told once by a salesman to never get the watch wet. It was a face-palm moment.

You didn't buy the watch from that AD, and in addition if it's being repaired by Rolex and not them, then it's natural they would want shipping paid by you?!

IF the watch got wet??? What kind of clowns is Rolex hiring to work customer service??

He should have said "if water got into the watch" rather than "If the watch got wet".... a very big difference..

Thanks all
I'm glad I did it this way instead of going via my AD. A tip - you need to specficially ask to be reimbursed for your cost to ship to Rolex. The CS person I talked to told me to put that in my letter when I sent the watch.

Any AD should be able to send your watch in for free if under warranty, and as a matter of fact I think they are reimbursed by Rolex for shipping. The person you spoke to at Ben Bridge is probably not aware of how it's done. If there is a local Tourneau as you mentioned they should send it in at no cost to you.

Did you get full paper work stating they had done a full movement service.

the document I got when they took the watch in says "warranty factory movt service-pres prf"

the document I got when the watch was sent back to me just says "service compliments of Rolex"

I was told on the phone they would do a complete service

Do you see any problem with this?

I had the AD send my new LV in for running too slow in Jan. I had to pay $30 to ship it in but Rolex shipped it back for free. My paper said the same thing "service compliments of Rolex". I thought about having someone ajust it locally, but the AD said like what others have said that it would void the warranty. My new watch is an 16610 LV that the AD had for almost a year. I bought it in Sept 2011 for MSRP. I love my LV and the thought of losing the remaining warranty wasn't worth the risk.

For any work under warrantee I believe Rolex reimburses the AD. For non warrantee service work the AD gets a discounted service cost which covers the shipping cost and then some - AD profit.
