He is still refusing.

And yes I fully welcome his side of the story. He's yet to weigh in here.

Guess we will keep waiting.

The old bezel swap or in this case the NOS clasp install.

I want to edit that part of the story out of my original post, but it will not let me since it was posted on a different day, so I will correct it here. Mods: Please let me know if there is a way I can unlock my original post from yesterday and I'll update it there. My mistake on this.

I WANT TO BE CLEAR: THIS DOES NOT CHANGE MY BEEF WITH THIS SALE IN ANY WAY. Here is the email I sent back to him:

XXXXX,

I just reviewed your original private messages from TRF and you are correct. I got the wrong XXXXX on watchuseek. The odds of that are amazing, but you are certainly correct. I will definitely correct my post.

I want to be absolutely crystal clear though: This changes nothing. You are a guy that moves a lot of watches. You know how to look at the serial numbers of what you sell. You still sold a 5 year old watch as brand new and took it on a trade for a 3 month old watch.

I'm updating the thread now.

Don't worry about calling him out with wrong info. You are just doing what any of us would be doing. Scanning old threads on multiple forums and all user info on the account. Its really stalker like to find out their ebay name and look through all the stuff they have bought and sold.

Come on guys you thought you were the only one doing that

Contact with the seller asking full refund if he rejects just disclose and put his details into the Who is Who section.bad reputation is very dangerous if someone selling high value items.

The only problem i see now that he can t return your PO-as you said it s already sold-but might be other members have a solution for that.

Agree, I find it strange that the seller replies to the OP and follows this thread without comments.

the id of the seller can easily be found if you search for certain keywords in the initial post... i'll make a mental note to avoid dealing with him.

Is one omega deal so much to mess up your reputation??? Really??? Just refund , appologize and move on! I find all this arguing and all too amatuer on the sellers part. I dont even want to know his name if he just privately resolves the issue with the buyer. This whole name and shame just makes all other forum members look bad.

Sounds to me like the seller knew a lot more about the watch than he let on, he obviously sells a few watches if he has moved yours so quickly, personally I would like the 400 back and a bit more to put on a service and clean up. IMHO an honest seller would have replied to this thread immediately.

After all (sellers, dealers) your name & reputation is what buyers buy into.

Hope this gets sorted for you.

If the,as of yet, unnamed party won`t respond publicly then he should be named for the sake of TRF and it`s members.

The longer the silence continues the more likely it is someone is trying to hide the truth.

The fact that there has been no response yet is a bad sign.A reputable seller/trader would have responded by now.

Ryan,

falsely advertised & questionable docs sold as "brand new"

imho, only way to correct this is a full refund, definitely has earned a line in the watch out section.

good luck!

I found the listing Mon, he even thanks Ryan by name. He defiantly calls the watch brand new.

Hi everyone. One more update here. This thread has generated some chatter between us. He emailed me this morning with a reconciliation offer but it is much too little. Please see the email volley below. I'm heading out for the morning but I will be back around noon or 1 eastern time. If he has not made things whole, I will reveal his name at that point. I just know the lasting power of Google and I take smearing someone's reputation very seriously, even if I know he deserves it.

anyway, here is the email volley from this morning:
-------------------------------------------------------------

Whether you believe it or not is up to you but I honestly didn't know the watch was old stock but I doubt it is 5 years old. Even if you buy a new watch from the AD it doesn't mean it is produced that day. Even if the AD sell you one that has been in inventory for 2 years it is still labeled new. In fact for the higher end watches, it isn't uncommon for them to sit on the shelf for a few years before being sold as new.

Anyways, I understand where you are coming from. I can't return the watch to you anymore but I can refund you $200 to smooth things over. That is my final offer to you to put this behind us. If that is not acceptable then you should do what you gotta do.

And I replied:

XXXXX,

I would like a total of $800.

My $400 returned which is a no-brainer. This takes the trade value of the watches back to an even $2600.

Then another $400 from your pocket. This takes the speedie down to $2200 which I feel is VERY fair for a 2007 model with shady warranty, slight wear, and no wallet/pictogram.

If I really wanted to turn the speedie into an "AD-fresh" watch like I thought I was getting, I'd have to kick in AT LEAST a grand. That watch in-hand would not fetch more than $2200 and a real AD-fresh speedie online would be at least $3200. This isn't even mentioning the extra $400 I kicked in bringing the total to $1400 AT LEAST that I'm out.

$2200 to $2600 is very fair. Let me know what you think. I still haven't revealed your name.

Thanks,
Ryan

Give the seller 24 hrs to respond with a deal that you accept, most likely full refund or hang the guy out on TRF, WUS etc. He simply hasn't been truthful about the history or condition of the watch. I highly doubt he has already traded your PO already.

Ryan - thanks for your answer to my earlier question. By explaining this was a very recent deal, I was able to form an opinion free of any doubts.

Here is what I think:
  1. The spread between retail value of a new Speedy Pro and the one you bought was very wide. I do not know the seller, but my first worry would be how he got it and why he would ask so little for a "new" watch.
  2. The market value for your 2-month old PO would be about half the value of a pre-owned Speedy Pro.
  3. The extra $400 you had to add into the deal is low; in a normal deal you might be asked to add something like $1000.
  4. The seller does claim to be 25 years old, earns over 6 figures, owns investment real estate and joined here in May, 2011 - his 20+posts before he started selling in August, 2011 gives no hint of a good reputation as a seller. I'd say he has a long way to go before becoming a trusted seller on TRF.
  5. I can't join into a high-tech lynching - the other side of the story needs to be explained by the seller - but I'd say you got a good deal even if he had said it was previously worn.
  6. Bottom line he should make it right without low-balling the settlement as it appears. But on the other hand I think you did get a good deal. I think you could resell it with honest pre-owned disclosure and not lose anything.

This example and a few others over the past few months indicates a voluntary "sellers code of ethics" may be worthwhile. In it the community ought to agree on the expectations we informally agree upon.

Buying from people with no track record is just risky and this deal outlines some of the risks - I hope you do get some consolation from my input.

Just my 2¢ - no harm meant to seller or buyer.

I don't know anything about Omega or what they cost, or are worth.

But I know this watch was listed as brand new, and from what the OP has stated it is not. I am tending to side with Ryan, since the seller has not posted anything in his defense.

This should all remind us to ask as many questions, no matter how mundane or redundant before any money has changed hands. I hope Ryan gets made whole here, the seller has no case so far not to do what Ryan is asking for.

Just my 2c.

-Eddie

I am not sure, if I am getting hanged for this, but I am alway worried about people registering, putting 20 or so posts and start immediately selling their stuff here.

If someone is asking me, a seller should have a t least 500 posts and must be at least a member here for2 years to have the permission to sell.
