Some AD's have next to no incentive to discount on models such as Subs/GMT's. I don't understand why an AD who moves tons of sport watches would discount either of these models to the extent that some claim on the forum. Perhaps these are much smaller ADs?

I'm heading to The Hour Glass in Melbourne on Friday to put a deposit down on a TT Datejust II with black roman dial.....what should I aim for in terms of discount? (return customer to the store, purchased a sub + breitling in the past)

Guyrolex.. you hear that.. you can make a free $400 and I will even pick you up so we can go together.. So $400 for 30 min work is not bad..

Sorry I just got back from a business trip- these discounts I refer to are from Canada- and a few are in Ontario. I have never seen these types of deals in the US- but you can do even better in Cayman

The discount is not that great once you account for the tax in Canada.

As a repeat customer I've received 10-15% on popular ss models but I've always paid in cash

I bought my brand new DSSD at a 10% discount off retail this month.
I paid using my Amex credit card.

I just got 10% on a DSSD today from local AD. Would rather pay 300~more from a local AD who is a friend rather than my non local/ on forums (not discrediting any of those sources at all!) Just personal preference.

Swung by a different AD...they flat out told me they dont care what I pay in, cash, credit, gold, they dont discount period.

Was I buying that day? No.....could have I gotten some discount if I did? Dont know and actually believe the sales lady just from the environment.

To me it's more about simple supply/demand based on what an AD is moving. AD's in hot spots who move tons of watches have zero incentive to discount. Personally, I seriously considered going through a trusted forum seller, but for my first watch I feel more comfortable going through an AD. They threw in an amazing amount of goodies to sweeten the deal. Congrats on your watch, great choice

You will probably have better luck in PA or MD.

Well i got my 10% off DSSD in home state, DE, no sales tax

The other AD I went to was just bc I had first tried on a DSSD that afternoon and couldnt get it out of my head. My local AD was closed so I found there was one in the mall that closed at 9pm that I went to just to see and try on again :)

So if you pay cash at a Canadian AD, you can get the 20-25% discount AND avoid their taxes?

I went to my AD today and put a deposit down on a TT DJII with gold roman dial. Walked away with 25% discount, and I'll save another 10% off on top of that when I claim back tax at the airport leaving AUS for a holiday
