This seems very logical. They hit all the models except Sub ND and Yachtmaster. Both are in dire need of clasp/bracelet upgrades.

Might be logical but there's no way a Rolex rep would know anything before Basel.

I didn't say it was going to happen. It's a somewhat educated guess, I suppose.

Well, you put words in my mouth stating what you said. I didn't mention anything about sales rep or basel in my first first post. :r ead:

REALLY?!?

Was your AD told that Basel starts on the 15th of March also? Mmm.......

Looks like his insider knowledge will be one week old..

I had a talk with my AD's watchmaker a week or so ago and I asked for his predictions for the coming show at Basel.

He said that the Yachtmaster was due for an upgrade and it would not surprise him to see that, so I expect that a lot of industry people are expecting this to happen. To what extent, or if it will actually happen this year, I don't think that anyone really knows, except Rolex and I don't think that they're telling ADs at this time because "loose lips sink ships," as it were.

He said that one possible bombshell at this year's Basel show might be the announcement of the reintroduction of the Tudor line to the US.

His only reservation regarding the reintroduction of the Tudor line in the US is availability of ETA movements.

I have read that Swatch has no intention of limiting ETA movements or ebauches, whichever the case is, to Rolex, because of their long history of collaboration and because Rolex is a serious watch house that does not just play "dress-up" with out-sourced watch movements and cases, as so many watch houses have become in the recent past.

The watchmaker said that although Rolex had unsuccessfully experimented with introducing an in-house movement for the Tudor line in the past, it would not be beyond the realm of possibility that this might be the double-whammy bombshell this year.

We both agreed that that part of the predictions was the least probable.

So, there it is from one Rolex observer, but to his credit, he acknowledges that he has no insider privilege.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if we saw an update of the Yachtmaster. It is the last watch with the old bracelet etc. so it makes sense.

I think the YM is an easy guess. I doubt an outside sales rep in the states KNOWS what the are announcing in a few weeks.

I think he`s listening to Anne Murray on vinyl.

I`m listening to Neil Young and Guess Who and of course Hendrix and no matter what music I listen to I don`t listen to what`s said at any AD.

Let alone broadcast it to all the salespeople in front of customers. The AD don't even know about price increases until the day it happens when they get the new price lists via FedEx overnight.

Is this the one on ebay that I saw? Im not sure I like the "buy it now" price. I may wait and see how the bids progress. Looks well taken care of though in the pics.

I'm going to fuzzy the details to avoid outing anyone. *Sometime*, say in the past 2 weeks, I was in an AD. At the counter was the Rep for rolex talking with the sales people and briefing them on some things that are happening at Basel on 3/15. The only nugget that came out of it was irrelevant to me but may be of value to some of you.

The Yachtmaster is being redesigned. The announcement is coming at Basel. The current Yachtmaster 1 models will be given a spiff or incentive to the ADs to liquidate them in the coming months/year.

Just to make sure I heard this correctly, I made the dealer reiterate what I overheard as a voyeur and indeed, the story was duplicated clear as a bell.

If I cared about Yachtmasters this would be really important news...but I don't.

Had I cared more about the Yachtmaster 1 I'd have probed deeper to find out if "redesign" means slide-lock band, up-sizing the case to 42-43mm, new dials, or a completely new watch. It didn't occur for me to ask so you can speculate all you want on that one.

There's the scoop. The original Yachtmaster is being toyed with and the announcement is coming in less than a month.
You heard right buddy!

It's just the new clasp and a blue dial option, right?

Gotta admire Rolex for defiantly holding out with that awful clasp for so very long.

Big balls.
