my AD told me, that nothing about new Daytona, because it was 1963, not 62, so anniversary model should be next year. he told also, that complication is really possible, it should be moonphase, however, not in the oysters but cellini models. and that rolex tries to produce ceramic pepsi bezel, but still couldn't find the exact red colour - my AD was in factory last year..
edit: sorry for my bad english, hope you understand, what I tried to say..

Stupid question. When will we know? Basel day 1 or is it a progressive release during the show?

I do find it quite likely that if Rolex were to introduce a grand complication that it would be in the Cellini line. Here on TRF, we tend to think entirely in terms of Oysters. In fact, the Cellini line could use a little spice to spike interest in this under-rated line. Other than that, I never believe what any AD tells me about what's coming at Basel.

If it was that easy, Rolex and others would already have done it. Joining different coloured half-bezels is tricky, as long as you want to make it last 30+ years. The two halves cannot come apart, even if you bang or drop your watch, even if temperature drops below -30 Celsius or above +60 Celsius, etc. etc. A lot of difficulties for a simple glue

Okay! By popular demand, we'll remove the PCLs from the Basel wish list.
A 14060M with a ceramic bezel, maxi case, maxi dial, SELs, glide-lock clasp, and a date.

Beat me to it...
This would be my guess/hope... RG in the GMT I don't think is realistic... The Tt RGdaytona is probably still a year away - and will likely have the cerachrom bezel... I agree about the full Rg ceramic daytona... The ND sub C may be offered, but for some reason I doubt it... |

Full YG and maybe full RG DaytonaC in advance of next year's big 50th anniversary splash.
SubC ND (and before anyone asks, it will be 40mm not 42 ). Re: YM....is an updated clasp really Basel-worthy? I would think it would just get rolled out, unless there is something else planned for the watch. A few floral print dials for the ladies. |

Do you know if Rolex has taken out a 'Sky-Dweller' trademark?

I also think the Yachtmaster I and Sub No-Date are the top contenders for revamp. Can't imagine any changes to any of the newer ceramic models.

I just checked it out Mike by doing a Trade March search.
I found out that "Sky-Dweller" was registered as a TradeMark by Rolex SA of Switzerland on 22-JUL-1996 So it isn't a recent notion by Rolex....far from it. I'll believe it when I see it

My search was in the Australian Trade Marks office.
It came back with a registration date of 1996 and with an expiry date in 2016. I don't know what the situation is in the USA, it may have been that Rolex SA in Switzerland transferred the registration to Rolex U.S.A. But it is perhaps more relevant that this registration activity in the USA did occur in 2011. But at this stage it isn't conclusive for me.

Realistically, I think we will see:
*A new 18ct Yacht-Master *Another steel and rose gold sports model. Possibly a Daytona with a ceramic bezel *New dial options for Datejusts A new Submariner is always a possibility, but I somehow get the feeling it may be here to stay in its current form. Certainly the price point it's at is attractive As for pie in the sky dreaming, I'd love to see a new generation of Rolex movements. Either that or a really unexpected, breathtaking piece, like they did with the YM II a few years back. Show us what you can do, Rolex |
