There is a well known memory cache problem that causes crashes. One must be patient when pages that have mixed rich media (flash + other elements) are loading. If, for example, you do the apple.com>mac>lionOSX>Features sequence Mik mentioned it will crash if the cache overflows or loads wrong.

Prolly because the limited 256MB cache overflows and sends a reset to iOS. It also happens on some Apps. I didn't see if the new iPad has a larger cache - the tech specs I found didn't go that deep.

I've had both the iPAD 1 and 2................and no problems. Have the iPHONE 4 and no troubles.

Strange I've never heard of the memory problem.

I'm pretty much with you on that John.

The crashing problem started to occur ever since the iOX5 software upgrade version..........and in over 6 months now Apple hasn't seen fit to fix it....that is pretty annoying.

I will now seriously consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I thought the processor was going to be a quad core on the iPad3 and I also thought that the screen was going to be larger and closer to the edge of the device. The new HD display is pretty cool but overall I'm disappointed, as it doesn't seem to be a huge leap forward over the iPad2.

Steve I was hoping the new Ipad would make me buy one as I was on the fence between that, galaxy tab 10.1 and the Assus eeepad TF201. Now the Ipad is out of the running and the Assus is leading.

I feel Apple has lost its mojo unfortunately and if it doesnt start innovating, it will soon become a rotten apple like it did mid 80's to mid 90's.

Actually--not sure what patience has to do with it but it constantly crashes with simple functions like doing a quote within a post and replying to a simple pm. I have to type response in notes and copy and paste to pm. Not sure how media rich that is.

PS. I am all Apple as well--iphone4s, iMac, and ipad2.

Exactly same with me. Never had an issue until the upgrade. It has been reported since day one. What is so frustrating is that I'm a light user. All I use it for is Safari, Photobucket, email (and wife FB).

Problem was reported quickly and they seem to be doing nothing about it. Those "blanking" geniuses told me the problem doesn't exist. I pointed them to their own website to show them that it did indeed exist. Genius said, "Wow, must be a new problem." Then I showed them (again on their own website) it was NOT new.

My flipping iPhone 3GS can handle the web fine, but my iPad 2 can't. If it doesn't get fixed soon, I'm done with Apple. It should be a software change that they blanked up. The rest of the market appears to be catching up to Apple nicely and if they don't offer top product, might as well go with a cheaper option IMHO.

Safari on my iPad 1 and my iPhone 3GS started crashing with some regularity after I upgraded both to iOS 5. Figured it was a function of the less powerful processors in both compared to what was available on the 2 and 4S respectively when iOS 5 became GA (generally available).

I'm going to download the 5.1 update and see if that solves the issue. I'm guessing no.

As for the new iPad, I'm waiting for verification that the unlimited iPad data plan that I have with my 1 can be transferred/grandfathered with AT&T for 4G LTE unlimited data.

Yes. I've done it twice, following a guide like this:

www.att.com/ipadlanding

edit payment information link...then update the following two fields:
IMEI:
ICCID:

You get this info from the iPad (1 or 2) selct 'Settings' then 'General' then 'About'...

The IMEI and ICCID info is on that screen. No need to swap the SIM cards. This process outlined above transfers service instantly and does NOT change the plan type, billing, user info, or days remaining. Basically anytime an ATT customer wants to move a data plan the ATT iPad web page is all you need. No phone call!

Hat tip to @MITLAB

Has it been officially confirmed that AT&T will honor grandfathered unlimited iPad data plans for 4G LTE? I know that I could transfer my plan from my iPad 1 to an iPad 2, but the iPad 2 isn't 4G. Knowing AT&T, I'm not going to make any assumptions that they'll treat 4G connectivity the same as 3G.
