An AD here in RI has 2 LVs, a white and black Explorer 2 42mm, and a white SS Daytona in their display case if anyone is interested...

Rolex Reps in these parts tell the AD that a SS Daytona and the Hulk are not to be in the display case, but kept in the safe.

Even here in Kuwait, the lv is not displayed, if you ask for it they would take it out the safe and show it to you. Its never displayed for some reason.

Nothing wrong with it and boutiques in NYC do it all the time. To be honest many people could care less about having to buy 2 watches. Dropping $15k for watches in the city isn't a big deal. I'm not saying the LVc is rare but I never see it at ADs cases in the NE. only place I've seen it was Las Vegas and a shop in NO and Atlanta.

Well scarcity (real or perceived) makes a product more desirable to buyers who are afraid they won't be able to buy, and also makes them jump on it when they have the chance and there's no question of asking for a discount. Smart selling in my opinion.

However it goes, this is exactly why I stopped purchasing from AD's. I don't like playing games when it comes to buying these expensive pieces..I have a good relationship with three grey dealers and can get anything I want at any time..

I guess it just depends on the AD. Mayors on Boca has an LVc in the case

Every AD (NY/NJ area) I've been to the last month has an LVC and they each tell me they are hard to find and a long wait list. Yet I've been offered the watch each time. I really believe it is just another sales tactic they are trying to increase its desirability. Also had a couple black ss daytonas offered to me. I don't think either are too hard to get. Just have to pay retail for them.

Baron & Leeds on Maui has the LVC, Blue sub, both explorers and a white Daytona all on display. If you call Jordan Prince at (808) 874-4900 I'm sure he'd be happy to send you one.

Why???

This is so ridiculous

I don't understand this logic at all.

Rolex is seriously going in the wrong direction IMO

I has almost gotten to the point where I don't even want the watch anymore

I haven't been to any north Jersey ADs but in central and south Jersey and the Philly area I've not seen them on display. I know 2 have them in stock though. I do agree with everyone that its not rare. IMO its being treated like the SS Daytona and perceived rarer than it actually is. Many ADs would rather sell it to a customer that has purchased 5+ watches at a little discount than sell it to a customer off the street at msrp. While not rare they are very easy to sell too.

Strange, the Gothenburg AD has the Hulk, SS Daytona, Explorer II and many others in the window all the time.

Well, this might not be "blackmail" per se, but it is a deplorably coercive sales tactic. This is not a rare watch. Personally, I would never do business with a dealer who actually operates in such a manner, and I cannot understand why anyone would defend or tolerate it. YMMV.

this thread is insane

perception is not reality in the LVs case. They are NOT a rare piece.

Sometimes i wonder if it is just a sales tactic. Guys who know rolex will come in asking to see it, then they throw out the bs "hard to get" line and it is sold.

Sounds like an elaborate and insulting sales tactic dressed up to look like a legitimate business practice.

Hahahaha ;-) it's all about the relationships Clark. With only 3 Rolex AD's in NYC it's a very small watch community here.
Ah I see. I guess he could also sell the second watch for not much of a loss with it being BNIB.

Wow 3 Pateks on the way ? From your other posts it appears you're a professor correct ? The nicest watch I've ever seen on one of my professors is a Longines. May have to change my career if teaching is so lucrative

Hi Jay, I own 2 Pateks (References 5712 and 5130P), I highly doubt I will qualify to purchase the Patek I have my eye, however, it was fun filling out the Patek application like I was part of an "exclusive" club For your reference I am not a full time professor. I teach Science and Mathematics on the weekends through Go Project and Robin Hood NYC. I am a working Wall Street stiff during the week ;-)

Wear them in good health

That's just another way to make you pay more for the piece.
