Daytona.

Even if they were the same price.

Pretty much the ultimate watch, if you only have one watch. It really does almost anything you really need a watch to do. I like purposeful things. I like that my Tudor chrono is useful in daily life, besides looking nice.
...but it says Tudor on the dial

Daytona all the way, has the legendary 'badge appeal' just to tick every box, and I'm sorry but yes that is important when you are spending thousands. Second best leads to having to buy another watch that you should have got in the first place, been there

For the money, the Tudor chrono. Then again, I'm probably more driven by perceived value than many people (also why I like buying preowned). Buying "image" isn't so much for me.

I just got my hands on this Tudor and am loving it..
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=232896

I need to send it in for some service because it is running slow and the pusher screwed completely out today when I was was trying to engage it..

I am guessing it was never serviced and is 15 years old but I am loving it.. Mine has the rolex crown and caseback

i think they are both great watches, but the daytona is a classic, and always will be. the tudor is a bulletproof watch though, and is probably better for daily wear with the date.

Take the silly "Tiger" off the dial, refresh the design a little, and re-release this model, Tudor!

daytona please...

First off, I am a Tudor fan, my 7928 is a fun vintage watch, but in the case of this comparison I find the Daytona white dial from Rolex to be a near perfect watch, and therefore the winner here.

Perhaps it's because I've tried on the white dial Daytona, both Zenith and Rolex movement versions, and each time was struck by good it looked/fit on my wrist, the complication details, etc... Perhaps it helps that it says Rolex on the dial, and I know I that could sell a Daytona for 10k rather quickly if I ever needed to.

The Tudor is more in line with my budget, so I will own neither for the time being...

I don't plan to be anywhere near the expert most are on the forum, but as an owner of both a Tudor and a Rolex, in many models such as my Sub it sells at maybe 30% discount to its Rolex twin. Similar with many of the equivalents to the Datejust I have. So it has always surprised me how big the gap is on these two. It seems to me you are paying a massive premium for marketing, don't see the movement being that bigger difference based on all other comparables. I love the Daytona but I just don't see given the case is the same and the Tudor ads the date, that I could ever justify going down the Daytona route. I love my Tudor Sub just as much as if it was a Rolex Sub, it runs perfectly and looks great.

Have had both but prefer the Daytona, also wouldn't own anything with Tiger on it.

This is not a case of should have got a Daytona in the first place. Some people genuinely prefer the Tudor. Myself included. The fact that it says Tudor on the dial is a benefit to many people...

It seems a lot of members on this forum dislike Tiger Wood. I like it on the Tudor and that makes the watch a limited edition. Secondly, I like him as a golfer. The golfing sport is so popular today among young people is because of him. He really turned the sport around. I used to think that golfing is a boring sport and for old people and business type only. Tiger had turned me into a fan of the sport. Again, the only way you can break a sweat is to walk under the summer sun :)
