Thanks for the clarification...I was under the mistaken impression that it was somehow set-into the face of the crystal, much like an inset.

I love the clean look of the ND Sub, but I have a date version also!

But if you get a vintage plexi sub I Dont think the cyclop can be removed unless a 5512/3 plexi can be fitted. Not to sure. I'm sure others would know.
Can one fit a non-cyclop plexi on a 1680,16800? |

Is there an anti-reflective coating on the face which is removed with the cyclops or is there no anti-reflective coating applied where the cyclops goes? |

How desireable? Check out the vintage threads - the older the ND Sub, the higher the demand for collectors. Now the 14060 and 14060M are in/heading toward the ditch, the supply of older, unowned ones will only decrease as the number of owners/collectors increases. As always, it really depends on how you feel about having the time and date handy on your wrist, or not, and not about how we feel.
On a more personal note, because I am not working full time now (and I have other Rolex date-watches), I find that my black-dialed, no-dates (old Speedie 3510.50 and new-to-me 14060), along with very casual clothes, are getting my full and undivided attention. If I want a date, duh, well...I...use my cell phone...and/or consult the calendar, depending on the 'date.' Good luck in choosing and buying - and remember, ultimately, with patience, one can own both. |

I've owned both w/date subs and no-date subs and I eventually got tired of the date and sold them off (my w/date subs & sea-dwellers). I only have no-date Rolex's now, 5513's and Explorer 1's. I don't miss the date at all and my wife said if she had it to do over, she'd have bought a rolex without date instead of the Rolex she has now w/date.
To each their own, I thought I wanted to move to a sub w/date, then I also bought a SD with date. I got tired of having to change the date on months that didn't have 31 days, etc. |
