Another vote for a Garmin. Can't imagine running 45+ miles per week wearing my DJII or any Rolex for that matter.

I get that you can. But when I'm pounding out a hill/stair workout I don't need a heavy watch that provides no value to my activity.

I usually run between 3.5 to 8 miles. I consider rolex's to be heavy whilst running.

I like more info than just the time of day when I run. For this reason, my Rolex gets replaced with my Garmin when I swim, bike or run

My watch I use to run needs to do more than tell time. I like to monitor my splits, distance, and heart rate. My Rolex can't do this.

I like a competition, but I'm afraid the only winner will be RSC, as we will all have to get our watches serviced more frequently because of my stupid idea...!

I used to have a 10k PB of 31minutes 27 Secs, but if you make me wear my DSSD I am afraid the handicap will push me out to 51:27!!!

Agreed, Something like a Garmin Forerunner 410 or 610 would be more functional for you

31:27 is a great time. I miss my really competitive days but I may start really ramping up my mileage when I turn 40 this year. Hoping the masters category motivates me again.

Well I'm 52 soon and I am about a 34:00 guy now, but better on the country. I wish I was your age, I'd be even quicker!

You were like 2 minutes from a world record ?? you must have been in some professional races i assume ?

My trusted running watch is a G-shock as you said a rolex is a hinder to your enjoyment of running ,,, any other time a rolex is the epitome of enjoyment

34:00 guy at 52 is very impressive. I have a PR of 29:40 but I am now running in the 32:00 range on a consistent basis.

Actually the world record is 26:17 set by Kenenisa Bekele on the track. I believe the road 10km record is still 26:44 by Komen.

I ran in the Washington Cherry Blossom 10 mile road race in 1993 and came about 25th or something and ran around 51:30 something. At the time I was a top regional runner, but only around 90th in the UK. Anyway, in the race we got to about the 6 mile point and you did a 180 degree turn and so you could see the leaders. At that point I realised that whilst I was quick, I was actually slow as William Sigi Kenyal went on to win in around 46 minutes!

Oh yeah, back to watches, I think I was wearing a $10 Casio.

x2. Uncomfortable, unsafe for the rollie (maybe for you too). Garmins are such a good choice at 1/3 the cost of servicing your watch in the RSC!!!!!

I've worn my Polar Explorer II (42mm) a few times, and had no problems. I almost wonder if I don't work out hard enough because it didn't gain any time!

That said, the iPhone is usually the better choice because of the functionality. Sometimes I want the sun for extra glow on my dial though.

Daytona, so that you could time your runs with the chrono?

And if you were pretty fast, i.e. 1 mile in under 1 minute, you could also use the Tachymeter to calculate your average speed LOL! :D
