"Q-tip" is a brand name for the wooden or plastic sticks that have a "ball" of cotton wool at each end. Normally you would use Q-tips to clean your ears with

No, you would use the Q-tip along with the Cape Cod cloth. Wrap an edge of the cloth in the Q-tip for fine control of the polishing area. You'd want to tape over the brushed links too as an added precaution. The Cape Cod cloth will smooth polish the brushed area if you're not careful. Bo has a photo of overpolishing using the Cape Cod.
