About the Macan....all these sharing between Audi, VW bin parts. It's NOT a Porsche anymore! Just bc you rebadge a Tiguan or baby Audi SUV witha Porsche emblem and a few changes inside and out.
For all that oppose my view: how would you like your Rolex to be swapped internally with a Swatch source ETA?

I would rather a Tudor than a Cayenne, Pajun, Macan or Panamera. Come to think of it I have a Tudor and it looks and performs great. Glad this thread has got some runs, sometimes I think people like cars more here than watches. Sorry will wash my mouth out with some Pajun.

I looked at a Porsche while I was car shopping a couple of years back, but the rather rapid depreciation scared me away from buying new. The boss ended up telling me I needed something that could seat four and drive in snow, so I ended up with an Audi..
Cajun must be built from the Q5 chasis - looks a lot like one. Not a fan of any Porsche SUV though.. |

I absolutely love the timeless 911 models and I'm very fond of the Caymen too.
I've never been a fan of the Cayenne and the Panemera looks ridiculous in my opinion. What's next Porsche, a minivan? |

When you already have an iconic image as strong as Porsche, changes in design can be a very dangerous thing....... This is why strong designs rarely get modified to any great extent (Rolex being a prime example) and even though from one model to the next you will find Porsche saying all of the panels are now new..... there will inevitably be very little change from a visual point of view to the layman...... It's only when sales start to slow or a new car on the block starts to take market share that more serious changes occur.
But I believe Porsche owners like this...... One of the most annoying things can be spending a big chunk of cash on a new car only to find 2 or 3 years later a new completely different design is available. My first car after starting work was a BMW 323i which I loved..... 2 years later the 3 series changed completely and mine was old news!!! Never bought a Beemer ever again and never will...... Whereas Porsches are almost timeless, and to the layman you can have a 10 year old 911 and still feel you have a current model..... The performance of a Porsche is unquestionable and I personally prefer an evolving design process rather than dramatic design changes every few years. After all, they depreciate badly enough as it is....... |

Porsche was ruined in 1974. Impact bumpers made a beautiful design look like a diving board.
Of course everything 75 and down rusts like crazy. |

I've got to say that if you think the styling has gotten lazy ( personally I love it), the 997 turbo kicks it up a notch from all angles, especially side and rear. After a half hour drive, it takes another half hour to get the smile off my face!

I think the OP is more upset with the dilution of the product line than the actual design. I think the 997 was every bit as beautiful as the 993. I wont get into the actual differences, but I am speaking purely from a design point. The 991 looks incredible too, and like others have mentioned, the interiors are nice. They also outperform all their predecessors.
Ive driven the both the panamera and cayenne and for what they are, they are nice cars. I dont care to see the porsche crest on their hoods, but do remember that their high margins subsidize RD on the Porsches I love, so I begrudgingly accept them. |

I would say that both the corvette and Porsche can offer over the top performance and I think that a very large part of who can beat who and when is directly related to driver skill and experience as few of us have the skill and consistency of the text drivers, etc.
I do think that the Porsche is more prone to making a good driver appear exceptional and is aesthetically more elegant in most cases. |
