I love the YG... So much that I would swap my TT for a full 18k if I had the extra $$

I LOVE yellow gold, but just not mixed with steel. It is a matter of personal preference, and either you like the look or you don't.

An all-gold like this DD 118238 would be nice, though:

There's a YG Daytona in the family. Not sure of reference or serial info as it's sitting in a safe somewhere.

I see it strictly as an investment piece.

Would I wear it? If I get invited to a Soprano's party maybe, but then I'd probably order a Kobold!!

I'll commit a faux pas and say that I wish Rolex would use 10K or maybe 14K instead of 18K just due to material softness issues. I'm sure that Rolex with an in-house gold foundry could make the harder lower karat gold alloys with the same rich color if they set their minds to the task.

Rawhyde
Certainly was a fox pass as 18K YG is harder than 9, 10 or 14K YG.

I'm close to doing the YG thing. I just can't rationalise it (appearance-wise) to hand over the cash. Having said that a YG GMT2C looks very different to a YG pres. Doesn't it??????

"Every guy over the age of 50 in Manila" - are you talking about the philippines? If so, what CIRCLES do you hang out in? The Polo Club????

Fair enough; but in Asia, and in certain major urban areas in the US (e.g., LA), it is certainly not uncommon to see young men wearing fine YG gold timepieces (Rolex, Patek, Brequet, etc.). That's fact.

I prefer SS for a mans watch. For a mans dress watch YG is OK. I am not a fan of TT for a man, does not look right IMHO.

I am very hard on jewelery, my wedding ring is Titanium and I have still hammered it! So I got a SS GMTC

My wive has a TT Datejust in rose gold with a Black MOP Diamond dial. The gold works on this watch, but it looks very femine.
