i wore a panda for 2yrs. in my opinion the panda is the best and most well rounded SS ROO out there, here is why: the inner red ring is not too much of a colour and the black chronos make it timeless with the whole contrast going on. it works with the original hornback for a classy feel, the singapore f1 strap for a sporty racey feel, and the bracelet takes it to another level of presence. never had it on the oem rubber but you just know that will work and will be a great watch for every day use. i wore mine without reserve and unfortunately the major 2 scratches it acquired were done so during the first month of ownership.. the rest were hairlines here and there but that is shared with the SS bezel on the diver and i just have to say don't be too comfy like with a rolex ;)
based on your collection, i can see you and i share some tastes :) i too own a few of the rollies you do, and if i wanted a Sub i would go with the LV. colour and variation seems to be key in your collection and i say celebrate it. thus, i think the Diver will strike you as i did after a few days: too monotone, too reserved with the contrast did you try the Diver on? it is a very hefty watch. but in its defense it has to be worn to be appreciated. the black in and on the watch is multi layered and on bracelet (never seen it irl) it looks magnificent. better than the panda? not in my humble opinion the only time i would advocate a diver vs a panda is for the sole purpose of using it as a dive watch personally, i sold my panda to make way for a bumblebee. i needed the ceramic bezel, and i wanted to spice up my rotation with less focus on red (all my watches are red accented). it has been a couple of weeks now with the BB, and i have no regrets HOWEVER i will say that i am STILL keen on the panda as the only next-SS-ROO for me (on bracelet), or perhaps a ROC panda for a different take. nothing taking its place is huge testament to it :) |

Guys...
I just spoke with the AP. SC. In HK. They told me that they cannot sell me a SS Bracelet for the Diver as it is does not come with the watch! That not good new. Are you guys confident that the US AP SC will sell me a bracelet? Thanks.

That's weird. I can buy strap parts for any AP from Clearwater APSC.

Anyway, I ordered my bracelet through my AD in St. Maarten and then had it sized and installed at the NYC AP boutique. For a supposedly verboten combination it sure does get a lot of compliments from the staff whenever I stop by. Hell, last night I attended their charity event for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and in spite of the heavy artillery present on the wrists of my fellow guests, my Diver + bracelet combo got the most remarks. Even Francois was impressed (twice he asked me to see it). Regards, Adam |

Thanks again for letting me know guys, this puts me at ease...
Perhaps here in HK the AD and SC are a bit strict and fussy! Cheers!
