Congratulations, I love that Daytona.

Actually it's the Gibeon meteorite. :) I believe the main mass was found in the 1800's, the material itself is likely several billion years old. It's nickel iron, and rusts easily if not taken care of. Inside a waterproof watch where moisture/oxygen can't get to it, it's probably fine, they probably treat the surface with a sealant too.

Those lines/patterns you see are its crystal structure, that's brought out by lightly etching the surface of a slice with a weak acid. They're called widmanstatten patterns. :)

Another member of the WG Daytona Meteorite club! :D

Congrats on one of the most unique dials available on a Rolex; I can't say I've found any other face that draws my eye to it moreso. I actually had to check mine to see the difference in the new black boxes, and when comparing, I have to say, it's subtle but striking! The black is much narrower on mine, making it much harder to notice any black at all, while yours seems to jump out at me!

Love it on the WG bracelet!

Wow, I had no idea that's how those dials were made. Unbelievable.
