Buy whatever that sings to your heart -- that's the best investment IMHO.

For $15k on an investment piece? I dunno, maybe an early 70's Expy II in good condition and un-refurbished. Subs always appreciate -- and now is a decent time to scoop up a ND Sub in aluminum before they all disappear. Watches aren't a great investment tool compared to others.

Personally, I think any Rolex can be viewed as an investment. I bought my Deepsea in 2008 for £4750. They now retail for £8050. On a certain website, a used 2008 model is for sale at £6495. That's around 36% return on a watch that's been on my wrist for four years - and I got it the week Lehman Brothers collapsed (pretty much the start of the recession and when the markets went into free-fall.

If you are looking for a way to make guaranteed money, then don't invest your money in watches unless you have a bucket load of money (ie $100k+) to invest in vintage pieces such as Newman Daytona's or Milsubs. And even then, you really really need to be an expert in knowing what to look for. No modern Rolex will give you a guaranteed return better than the bank unless you happen to come across an absolute bargain.

Why is it today that Rolex watches to some are seen as little more than $$$$$£££££.Gone are the days of buying a Rolex knowing with just a little care it was last a life time and beyond.
