My go anywhere watch is a SeaDweller, so I'd go with the Sub...

If the dinner is formal, etiquette would be a black leather band. And for the travel part, I would take a stainless steel GMT.

You have to ask
16610 the most perfect "all occasion" watch ever produced, from the open seas to a black tie event, always perfect IMHO. |

Couple other facts: In fact Rolex USA has donated a 14060 for the last four AC hall of fame dinners as a "raffle prize".... A number of "billionaires" attending, including Ted Turner and whom I know, will be wearing SS Rolex "AC" subs as well....while I have done well in life I am no billionaire. I'm not sure how comfortable I will be talking to Ted and Larry Ellison wearing a DD on my wrist. For all you TRF YachtMaster and YMII owners, I will try and do a casual count of how many, IF ANY, I see this weekend...

Sounds like a Yacht-Master is required... but looking at your choices, I would pick the DD as the 'event' watch

IMHO, make a statement by not making a statement. The SS Sub goes anywhere and you will not be out of place wearing it. If you wear the DD, you will look out of place in the water.

I'd say the TT GMT Oyster. It suits all occasions plus it does not make you look like a pretender between billionaires.

Well so far the general consensus is there is no consensus....please keep the opinions and examinations coming. I am leaning towards the DD or one of the TT GMT's at the moment (jubilee or oyster??)

Since you're coming from the Left Coast, and would prefer to take only one, I would go with the all black SS GMT-II. In addition to that being my favorite watch, it will go with jeans, black tie, and everything in-between. If you want a back up, I would go with the YG DD. It's not as usual as a Sub and also (as will any of your timepieces0 go with anything you wear.
Why would you feel uncomfortable wearing a YG DD? There's no reason to feel uncomfortable wearing any Rolex (or other high end watch), especially in the company. Wear what you want and don't worry about what others might think.
