I'm very biased since I own one... but I do love it. I like "big" watches also.

I think honestly if you have been wearing 36mm dress watches for all of your life and then try on even a 40mm sports Rolex then you might find it large. Then of course the DSSD will seem huge.

Many will call the big watch phase a fad that will die out and they may be right. I do however enjoy larger watches such as Panerai and U-Boat. If you can wear a watch that is 44mm every day then the DSSD will be a fun addition.

Don't listen to people who make jokes about it being a massive toy. It has a wrist feel that is solid and not at all intrusive. I wouldn't go jogging with it, but then again I wouldn't go jogging with a 40mm Sub either.

Good luck in your search!

Yes own AP Carbon and Sub LN & LV. Was just saying I have flipped Sub many times (like a lot of us) because I get bored with it. Finally decided to stop that and hold it

I can certainly understand that--and agree

Wow, looks like you pretty much have the bases covered man. A new Rolexof any kind would be nice but you are building upa bit of overlap if you get the dssd

I see it more as a compliment to the larger watches I own.

I think Sub serves it purpose and the DSSD would do the same.

Decisions, decisions

I also did not have to remove any of the links nor did I remove the diver's extension on the bracelet to fit me out of the box. My wrist size is 7.5". There are those people with the same (and different) wrist size that felt the need to remove links or the diver's extension. There are those with smaller wrist size than mine that love it, and there are those with much larger wrist size than mine who hate it. You basically have to figure it out for yourself since the appetite for this watch (or conversely lack thereof) seems very personal.

I love my watch, but I also fully understand that its size is not everyone's cup of tea. Only after I visited my AD's multiple times and tried on the watch multiple times did I finally realize that the DSSD suited me on so many different levels. Good luck, and have fun shopping!

Well said!

Sub is miles better than the DSSD for everyday use..and if you want a big watch go Panerai or AP ROO - vastly better proportion wise!

I recently tried on the DSSD and GMTIIc at an AD. I prefered the look of the DSSD. Something about that watch really gets my juices flowing.

I wasn't all in love with it at first, But after a proper bracelet adjustment it wears pretty much great.
And after seeing Patrick PSV's pics on Zulu..I love it!

Truth be told, that's kind of my feelings towards all those haters of the DSSD. Don't buy it to keep it more exclusive. Those that love it can share in the adoration.

The DSSD is a beautiful diver when looking down on its dial. I might even get used to the extra writing around the ring, but the deal killer for me is how disproportionately thick the case is to everything else about the watch. It totally ruins the watch for me and I can't even imagine wearing that height and weight on my wrist because it would be a massive door magnet.

Ultimately, it's your call. If you like it go for it. However, it's not my cup of tea.

Cheers!

To all those that knock the Sub and say that the DSSD has better build, better quality and tougher, etc.

Keep in mind that the only functional difference between the Sub and the DSSD, is the depth rating. Period. Since the vast majority of people can't and don't dive anywhere near the depth rating of the DSSD, the purported toughness is a moot point. So to me, at least, the Sub is better because it is more versatile while being tool capable if need be.

Drop a DSSD or a Sub onto a tile floor and you will get the same result... a broken watch that is in need of repair. So the depth rating is not meaningful when it comes to knocks or banging only depth. Both the DSSD and Sub have the same 3135 movement.

If you like the DSSD, that's fine, but don't knock the Sub. The Sub is a tough tool capable watch that can pretty much take anything you can throw at it except for the extreme depth ratings that no one can go to anyway.

All that being said, the DSSD will always get the 'badass' award any day over the Sub for its over the top looks and ratings.

Go for it Paul, you won't regret it. During the summer I have my DS on Isofrane and in winter on a Ted Su black hornback strap. Don't care much for the steel bracelet.

Go Deep!
