Yeah that's the guy who ran around getting tossed out the door by watch companies.
Omega had to do something cuz all the eta movements that they improved were horrible..they should have left them alone.

You're free to do whatever you want with your money. I've yet to see you make a convincing counter-argument - the cal. 8500 has been remarkably problem free, I can count on one hand the number of issues I've seen personally (having worked at an AD dealing with both Rolex and Omega) and been reported online. The dealership I worked for didn't have a single cal. 8500 based watch come back with movement issues, which, considering the movement has been around since 2008, is very impressive indeed. I think I'll be the one telling you 'I told you so' in a few years' time

i owned both Sub and SMP. I ended up sell every single SMP because the clasps, while its nice and solid, it lacks micro adjustment holes.

and my wrist size changes too much (because of temperature) that it can never get a good brecelet size for all situation

You can't tell me anything,,the 3135 has a long history and is getting better and stronger year after year and is superior..you'll see in a few years time..these new watches will be stopping after 5-6 years for the simple fact that the other parts still need upkeep and oil and it's not all about the escapememnt,you''ll see.

I'm wearing my Speedy Pro today and it's an absolutely terrific time piece. I also have a SMP GMT, both, I think, are on par with any Rolex I own...well maybe not the Cellini, but hey, that's a dress watch

There are so many people brain washed by the Rolex brand in this world it is sad. So many guys wear the name on the dial, not the watch, it is pathetic actually.

Rollme, if you stick around you might get educated on watches and learn that there are actually many great watch brands, and yes, many way better than your mass produced, assembly line GMT.

I just wish omega's still beated at 8 per second instead of 7. I love my Rolex sweeping hand so much. Its always the main talking point when I show mine off.

The great thing about watch collecting is that it doesn't have to be "Rolex v. Omega." I love my Planet Ocean but I'll inevitably add an Explorer II or GMT IIc when funds allow. And a Patek if fortunes change, etc etc. There's certainly great value to Omega at the moment - I could flip a coin between a Planet Ocean and a Sub C and be happy with either.

My friends have all bought Rolex after landing their first job and most are not WIS. A friend wearing a GMT IIc asked how I liked my Submariner (while I was wearing a Planet Ocean). I like having the Omega because it's different, flies under the radar, and looks great.

Omega are great watches but I prefer Rolex for the following reasons

1) Rolex don't have any watches with bloody 007 written all over them, unbelievably tacky
2) the metal used in omega's is like butter, look terrible after about 6 months
3) every bloody shopping mall sells omega, just not very exclusive (uk)
4) the whole eta thing has devalued omega big time
5) seem to just copy Rolex all the time rather than actually come up with anything innovative themselves, except the co-axial, but that's used modified eta's so...
6) omega too desperate to associate with celebrities, but in reality not actually worn by many at all!
7) of all the big brands seem to lack any real identity. You know instantly when you see a Rolex, panerai, breitling, ap, but omega don't seem to have that
