I understand some on here have some issues with it, point taken. But if I had the means (money) and that much disposable income to spend on myself I would get one!

Yeah we are not talking "saving up" for one of these...either you have it or not. And noone is saying practical!

After watching the video, I really like it, much more
than when I first saw a photo.

I like it a lot too! Especially the YG and Everose versions. (neither of which have the "pretentious Roman numerals")

agreed!

I hope they treat it like the Daytona and do a bunch of dials.

this with diamonds or sticks would rule

That's a neat video. I'd have to see a SkyD in person. Someone on here has some wrist shots, and based on those, I'm not a fan. IMO the dial is too busy and there are too many different fonts.

Nope, still not doing it for me although I'm very interested in seeing one in person.

I like the watch, but alas, I won't live long enough to be able to afford one, or even to see some of that technology filter down into the watches designed for more common men.

We've heard for a long time from people who decried the lack of complications in Rolex watches and now that Rolex has some serious and unique complications in the line-up, those same detractors, I would assume, think the watches look like crap.

It's all a matter of taste.

To me, what makes the Sky-Dweller a desirable watch for the well-heeled globetrotter is that it can be set on the fly without any special tools or tedious adjustments.

Yes, the dial has a new look and for some that will be a deal breaker, but I think most of the noise we hear about this watch is from those who can't afford one anyway, or if they can, are of the mind that Rolex is not quite "haute" enough to command that kind of cash.

Rolex has made precious few mistakes in its 100+ year history of horological innovation. I think that they are able to look at the market from a far less provincial perspective than most of us.

And for what it's worth, "Archie Luxury" hates it.

How come the crown on that has two dots under the logo, and my GMT IIc has three?

Hey Rude,

Means its a TwinLock crown. The GMTc has a TripLock.

I'd have to agree with Archie Luxury on this. The SkyDweller just isn't a sexy cucumber.

Well i love the SkyDweller and is my grail watch ! i would prefer a simple stick dial as said the Romans do clutter the dial somewhat. I havn't got it and never will as it's way out of my league.
Never mind we can but dream.

Twinlock is also indicated on some models with a line under the crown. Wonder if the line is to indicate SS and the two dots for precious metal added.

The cut aways on the dial, for the month indication, look like shoddy work. Also, I don't notice any lume. Why would Rolex omit the lume on such an expensive, "state of the art" wrist watch?

As always, wise words from Grady.

As for me, I think it's a stunning watch though one that polarizes opinions like the YM II. If I could afford either, I would surely buy.

I find myself liking fewer and fewer new watches every year (YMII, DDII, ND SubC,...). However, besides the increased size, I like this one. It's not overly "bling" (at least for a modern Rolex), and I think their take on an annual calendar brings something new to the table. I agree with you that when it comes down to "Rolex" or "Patek", I'm taking Patek 100% of the time.

that's patek or lange money.

the complications are cool... but, yeah, the design is a bit fusty.

it's like dropping a new mercedes AMG-tuned motor into a blower bentley body.

This model appears to be aspirational and maybe an indicator of future models with more complications included.

The newest models appear to appeal to niche buying segments (with exceptions like larger cased existing models such as DD-II, DJ-II, etc).

They should have used stick markers and had the markers themselves act as the month indicator. The inner 3/4 of the stick markers would be lumed as usual with the outer 1/4 being a window to the indicator beneath. Nice and clean.
