Like an idiot, I will prob follow the live blogging of the event today... Been with Apple (phone only) since the 3G. I'm very happy with my phone, so I'll prob upgrade to the 5.

I'm no fan boy, but it's served me well...

I did get an android tablet vs an ipad. Mostly due to price...

So I guess the new Iphone 5 will be the World's thinnest smartphone and made entirely of glass and aluminum with a 4-inch retina display, 44% more color saturation. It has the ability to watch videos on the widescreen. And it is 4G LTE, 802.11 abgn, 802.11n 2.4GHz, 5GHz with the A6 chip. More to come from the launch party on additional features.

Please, Please, Please Phil,

Say that thing that Steve used to say.....

"And we're shipping these today."

Absolutely sold on the camera - 8 MP, 5 element lens, sapphire crystal cover, etc...outstanding.

Wow - much needed audio upgrade:

"Three microphones! Front, back, and bottom. Speakers have five magnet transducers (up from three). Earpiece now includes noise canceling on your own audio out."

New interface cable as well - "Lightning"- tiny. Like it; Thunderbolt and Lightning!

Love this statement!

The Samsung note is huge. A little too big for a phone at least for me. I want to be able to put my phone in my pocket.

What are your thoughts on the screen quality of the Samsung and HTC that you have there vs. what we saw released today for the iPhone 5?

Personally, size aside, speaking from a quality aspect only, I would say the iPhone has the best image, followed closely by the HTC One X (the white phone in my pic) then the S III and trailed by the Note.

As a photographer, I find the color reproduction on a good LCD to be superior to AMOLED displays. Those look great on menus or man made graphics but skin tones just don't look right. They also seem to lack pure white, with all images leaning towards blue tint.

With that said, the S III is way better than the Note and slightly better than the S II. (not pictured but I have one of those too)

They all have stunning displays and they all have their pros and cons. At the end of the day, it's a matter of preference. In my case, I go for pixel density (iPhone wins) and TRUE color reproduction. (iPhone and HTC One X). The Samsung AMOLED is better in day light though and it looks nice and vivid when playing games.

Another great screen (not pictured, but I have one) is found on the Sony Xperia ION. Really good high end LCD on that.

As an iPhone 4 owner, I say...

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! To that 4 inch screen.

Really Apple? Really? Oh, and the screen is still thin so now it will be even more awkward to use since you'll always be holding it in landscape mode. Way to screw up a phone.

Well, my wishes weren't answered as I described in my initial post yesterday. The iPhone 5 appears to be an utter failure from a hardware standpoint. Ladies and Gents, sell your stock, as I say over the next few product cycles we will see Apple slide right back into the dark Abyss they were in pre-ipod.

Great, thanks for that! I tend to agree and that is the one reason I still can't rule out the new iPhone 5 - the pixel density. Although the HTC One X according to reviews and your take is a close second, so maybe it is not that big of a difference, even though it is less PPI.

Same here, I am fine with my iPhone 4 and I don't see the need right now to upgrade to v. 5.

Yep - Samsung was trying to redefine calling with bluetooth headset or earbuds as the device near the ear.

I would recommend that to all who use even iPhones...the best thing is being able to talk and do another thing on the device (except for VZ's one-thing-at-a-time data plan).
