What I want to know is if you can get it in white straight away

I've always wanted a white one but as I bought the 3G and 4 at launch i've always been stuck with the black one! Not exactly a hardship, I know but still....

Is there going to be an increase in the monthly charges for the 5 phone or does the plan rate remain the same?

Because its too small, still, which has been my main complaint about my iPhone 4 after owning it for a few months. Apple should have at least gone to 4.5in and made the phone a bit wider. I really don't give a crap if it's still easy for a ten year old girl to hold and operate with one hand.

So the cycle was cell phones were the size of a brick and the race was no to make them smaller, now the race is on to make them thin but bigger... how about talking on an iPad?

LTE is, essentially, 4G Internet coverage. They say it's 10 times faster than 3G.
I have an iPad with LTE and it is much, much faster than my old 3G model.
To me it's a big deal, however on a phone it may not be of the same magnitude as on an iPad.

Maybe it's just me, I don't see the fascination with big screens. It is designed to be portable and fit in your pocket. I've seen these phablets and I just don't get it. I have an iPad if I need screen real estate. JMHO.

The value of LTE on iPhone 5 is hard to say just yet - I do see Cloud Apps that could use native LAN speeds to let the phone be a virtual terminal.

The current generation of carrier implementations of 4G-LTE is a pre-cursor of full LTE. What are the best down/up speeds you've seen thus far? On an iPhone 4s in Tampa, FL we saw 3Mbps/500Kbps.

What AT&T and VZ are doing is the pre-4G technology - it's really "3GPP LTE" and it is fast enough that the iPad and iPhone will show 4G on the screen icon. This is often branded "4G-LTE" by the carriers, but it does not fully comply with the IMT-Advanced requirements.

The true LTE ITU standard has a downlink bit rate of up to 100 Mbit/s and uplink of 50 Mbit/s. What is holding us back in the US are the carriers failure to get 40Gbps fiber backbone equipment widely deployed - the fiber is there but the gear isn't everywhere.

The recession stopped deployment and the funding studies I saw showed we would be paying an average data plan price of $80-$120/month for true LTE or the carriers lose money.

I'm for the iPhone 5 but the carriers will dictate the value proposition we get out of LTE.

If done right, a 4.5 inch screen would do very little to the overall size of the iphone. I think the Samsung GS3 screen is a bit too large, but somewhere between 4.3-4.5 would be just about right - still portable and easy to use, but large enough that web browsing and apps are still enjoyable. My guess is Apple kept the screen smaller due to the cost of producing the display and keep battery life respectable.

I have an iPad (3 of them in fact), but it's not very portable for being on-the-go.
