I recently came across a brand new white 16570, bought it and love it. However I really like the updates to the 216570. Explorer IIs are awesome!

I'm biased as I have the Explorer II 26570 and I love it.
I see no reason to not reward yourself for your hard work... as long as bills are paid and kids are fed... go for it. |

Reward yourself .....It's a superb reference....white was my choice. Just pops of the wrist and is so legible.

I hav al least at one time or another had almost every Rolex there is with the exception of the Daytona. I currently hav eht black dial EX II and love it. For a one and only watch IMHO black is the way to go. I would say white if you had several othe black dial watch sin the rotation. For me black just seems to go with everything but you can't go wrong either way.

[QUOTE=FremStar;3717420]Congrats on taking the necessary steps to properly research your potential first Rolex purchase!
For me I had to choose the 216570 in the Noir dial! Sam...love that shirt/tie combo with your 216570!!! I agree with others here...there is no wrong choice with respect to the dial color, but I do prefer the noir. |

Go for it!
I just got mine last week. Really wanted the white, but in person the black was a slight winner for me. Would love to have them both! (Does anyone here yet?) Here's a pic I snapped today. |

No wrong choice
It is my favorite watch in the current lineup. I liked white at first and tried it, but now I prefer the black.

Thanks Again guys for all of the replies to my post. You've been very helpful.
Also a big thanks to everyone who took the time to put up wrist shots. Your watches all look fantastic. I am now leaning more towards the black again but will try them both on to see which I like better in person. |

Hey Guys... Well I am just home a couple of hours now having bought my polar explorer 42mm and I love it. Sits very nice on my wrist and is very comfortable. I suppose you could say I am a paid up member of the club now. Is it weird to check the time 600 times an hour haha. The black or white decision has been killing me for a couple of weeks now. I was very close to choosing the black but pulled the trigger on the white. Thanks for all the previous posts you guys took the time to write. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow. It's getting late here now. I think it's about time I checked the lume some more. Actually speaking of the lume, In the darkness it does look a very greeny colour over the clear bright blue you see in peoples photos or videos. How is that?? In saying that, it is definitely not the bright green that I have seen on other rolex models. In some lights it looks a more blue colour. Anybody got any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum! A lot of us have most likely been in your shoes. Please, please go with your gut and get the one that YOU like best. You will hear so many different opinions on this forum. Since the black dial stood out to you, run with it. That seems to be YOUR choice, and if you get something based on others' opinions, you will eventually flip it for the one that you originally wanted. Trust me, I made that mistake. Congrats on your achievements and best of luck with your decision.

Just saw your post that you chose the white dial so please disregard my previous post. Congratulations! I didn't want to give you my opinion, as I thought you really wanted the black dial.. I prefer the white dial too in this model.

No problem WGS, I appreciate the opinion. It was such a close call. I really could have gone either way and not had much of a problem. I do think I made the right choice for me though. I will review again in a few days haha.

My first watch was a Omega Planet Ocean 42mm 3 years ago. I love the watch and Omega. I am not rich as well and have to save for each watch purchase. I was bitten by the Rolex bug last month and purchased a new Sub. I do not regret it. It will always hold a good value and is a classic. I am already thinking of two other Rolex watches. A vintage GMT Pepsi or coke (much harder to find a decent one) and a new Explorer II (White) so it looks very different than my black Sub. My guess is that this won't be your last Rolex. You can't go wrong with either color. Good luck!

If you are anything like me, whichever dial you chose, you'll always look at the other colour and wonder. Human nature I reckon.
I see you went polar (like me), great choice but I wish people would stop posting pictures of the black! Welcome to the club. |

P.S. Time for some wrist shots, lume shots, or whatever shots you want as long as your polar is in it. |

PS Don't agonize too much about the dial color - if you get tired of the white, you can always swap it for black when you send the watch in for service. Not sure how much it costs (my guess, around US$300) and Rolex will keep the old dial, but at least you have the option. |

Congrats on your polar 216570!!
The lume is indeed blue, but can appear slightly green if you don't have other watches with green lume to compare it to. If you check it against a watch with green lume then you will notice how blue the lume on your 216570 really is. Now...let's see some wrist shots!! |
