I tried the mini in the Apple Store, and man...it is beautiful. Dominates the first gen Kindle Fire (ignoring price.) It's just so slim and beautiful. I don't see the big deal behind retina display since I don't watch HD videos or use any apps that really take advantage of the HD screen. I'd rather have longer battery life and have the tablet run at a lower temperature than having a marginally improved screen. Ultimately, my decision not to buy the mini stems from my lack of a real purpose for a 7" tablet. My iPad2 is good for note taking and annotating PDFs (mini is too small for that), and my iPhone 5 is perfect for pocketing (mini is too big for that.)
The mini is cool and beautiful technology, but since I've used my Kindle Fire for a grand total of maybe 5 hours since buying it, I think the 7" tablet just isn't for me. |
