I did the same many years ago, and my SD still gets a whole bunch of wrist time. I do have to admit, however, that as I get older my eyesight and memory just "ain't what they used to be", so I appreciate the cyclops on my Sub as well. That said, the original Sub design (sans date) is very clean - a true classic.

Guess that's why Rolex still has variety in their "Sub" lineup. They really need to bring back a 40mm size Seadweller for those who can't comfortably wear the DSSD though, IMHO.

I love the symmetry and clean dial of the No Date.

In the beginning there was no date and Rolex said " let there be date" and it was good, yes very good.

I need a date, don't really like the cyclops. Got the SD, problem solved.
For me, I just can't pay $7.5k to just tell time. Yes, I said it, "just to tell time". I don't have a limited memory either, but I use the date function during the day about half as much as the time function.

There is a certain allure to the nd sub's symmetrical dial which is beautiful, but no date no sale.

True, but how often do people dive with their submariners...

I'm a forgetful person. When it comes to dating agreements, checks, and/or making appointments, it is nice to just look at my watch to confirm what today's date is. (or maybe I'm just making an excuse to just stare at my watch....)

Its more of a personal preference actually.. Some may want a Date but cant stand the cyclops. Some people just simply loved the date with cyclops ang everything. And some just simply adore the simplicitu of a non-date.

I wear my Sub every work day.
I just shout out 'whats the date'. There is usually always someone there.
My Pam 231, Speedmaster, Milgauss, Daytona, etc have no date - I also like wearing them.

I personally prefer no date even though I have watches with date. As I. Rotate my watches between Daytona, ND Sub I don't have to hassle with changing date each rotation.

The dive extension is a much better design on the Sub date. The solid end links of the Sub date are also preferred by many.

Both watches are comfortable, but the Submariner is a tad less thick then the Sub date.

I assume you're referring to the non-ceramic versions of the Sub and Sub Date. The ceramic versions of the Sub and Sub Date have exactly the same bracelet, Glidelock clasp, and the same case thickness.

No date is better and more cost effective if youre a drunk and dont know or care what day it is anyway most of the time.

Hey why pick on drunks? The guys & gals that need a date will never be happy with a Sub Speedie or Daytona. Some just need it. As for me if a watch has a date fine if not fine. One of my daily watches is the SD nice clean dial.
I have had three Sub Dates two TT and one 18kt all where bluesy.

I had a Sub LV before I had to sadly sell it but I have just replaced it with a Sub C with "No Date",as I think the look of the watch without a date is better looking but I have to admit I keep looking at it for the date. I will either get over it or strap a calender to my other wrist.

If you are dining alone, a regular sub will do.

If you have a date.... then you wear one!

DUH!

The no date version is ten times easier to set, if you wear it off and on.

+1 exactly why I chose my watch.

This thread is funny, I know what the date is without having to look for it..........and it stays the same number all day!

I'm sure you guys who have the date on your watches have a look even though you actually know what the date is?
