All Rolex models are made to last for ages now. The quality on all models is fantastic. Of course, a stainless steel model will be most durable (compared to two tone, gold, or platinum) but if you are careful with it (and service it when necessary) any of those can last decades. I would recommend a sport model (Submariner or GMT) for extra durability with the ceramic bezel.

The 114060 was £5k when I bought it and I paid less. When you consider the resale value, bracelet and overall quality you don't get much better.

As impractical as the added complication in the 4160 movement maybe if you're not a yacht racer I'm still in love with the Yacht Master II.

i agree with the masses in appreciation for the GMT, however since i am a submariner first kind of guy, i find the GMT and Sub too similar looking. as an alternative i think the Explorer II 42mm is also a top choice!

If it's reliability & durability you value, then the Explorer or Explorer II fit that bill.
Durability designed beyond the other models because it is equipped with high performance Paraflex shock absorbers to protect the movement in rigorous activity.* * Yes, marketing psycho-babble perhaps, but the Expl. lineup is worthy.

SubC or GMT.
Or, just get a "real" Newman Daytona as it will only go up or hold value. nice pics so far btw. |
