What they told me is that they sold one in Dec for retail and haven't had one until about a week ago. They won't discount it because they know someone will pay retail and they only get one every few months. So they're losing that margin by discounting it, not losing a sale.

I guess the discounting dealers get them more frequently and/or rarely have an opportunity to sell at full retail.

Well I went to the LOCAL Ad who previously let me walk out 3 times to go but elsewhere since they didn't want to budge $1.00 and they finally agreed. They know Ive bought 3 in 3 years and I guess finally realized they're losing a good customer.

They offered me 15% on the GMT.

Now to convince the Mrs....

Speaking of Govberg, I dealt with Alaina for my Omega Seamaster, and she gave me a whopping 25% off retail. When I've dealt with other salespeople there after, they looked at my previous purchase and said "I wouldn't be able to give you the same kind of discount, but we could work something out."

I'd be more than confident purchasing from davidsw, as he comes highly recommended.

I've dealt with DavidSW in the past and it was an easy smooth transaction, but if I can get it done at a dealer, use a CC to get points (not pay 3%) and have it in my name for the same price I'd rather do that. I'm sure most would.

Just took delivery Thursday on a SS GMT IIC from Adler's in NOLA (on Canal). Got a 10% discount over the phone in about 2 minutes. Made me think I should have held out for slightly more. Also no sales tax since they shipped it to me out of state. Overall about a $1k savings over my local ADs who refused any discounts.

The official line from Rolex is no discounts.

You should check the sales forum here and see what the trusted sellers can do for you.
AD should give me a discount if they want me to come back.
There's 4 ADs in Vancouver...there's a reason why me and my friends only go to one of them.

I haven't heard of anyone getting 20. I have an offer for 16%, I think that's good.

Out of respect and courtesy to the dealers that have worked with you on price, I would suggest not "outing" them on a pubic internet thread. ADs who discount can have their line pulled from them (this has been happening more and more of late) and you can do great harm by posting such things. Much better to PM someone with a tip on a dealer who might give a good deal. Just my suggestion.

Good Advice

RUSA monitors these boards and it wouldn't take them too long to call the few LOCAL AD's in the Philadelphia area and put the kibosh on a discount.

At this rate, Rolex may just price themselves out or have to work harder for shares of the pie--albeit, a demographic looking for a higher priced slice of pie. I may just have to settle for the piece of pie I have :(

I hadn't considered that, but I personally never mention AD names here. I actually try hard not to even tell other AD's who I've gotten to drop (even though they all ask).

I'll certainly continue to keep it anonymous going forward. Makes sense, and I do want to keep them protected since they're taking care of ME!

That being said I can't imagine Rolex yanking an AD based on a random person on the internet stating they got a discount. I mean....any one of us can say anything we want, that doesn't mean it actually happened.

if you want a great discount buy from the trusted sellers on this forum. If you enjoy the AD experience go to your local AD but your on their terms.
