Perfect!
Seems like the perfect reason for choosing the AP.

I'll echo the sentiments of the people in the "that's Patek money" camp...

The problem I have with the RG APs is the fact they use white gold screws on them. It gives it a sort of two tone look that I can't stand.
If the choice is between those then I would go RG SkyDweller. You want a Rose gold sports watch that leaves the rest in the dust ? Go for the Patek 5980R. Ken may and show you a picture of his if he's in the mood *hint* *hint*. |

I have a few Rolexes as well...Sub has been rock solid, and I enjoy my Daytona very much. However, the finish on the AP is above Rolex. Let's be real, take a look at the top watchmaking houses and tell me what ranks where. With that said, I'd also go Patek for Skydweller money. 5726A, perhaps? |

Hi
The majority of these responses have me Mehta go with the one that sings to you brother... A Patek, AP, or Sky would look great with anything Mahesh puts together for you! In terms of secondary market I look at any timepiece over $25k like buying a brand new car... The BMW you own was purchased because it sang to you, you know the newer model will come out next year, however, that did not stop you because you know it would retain it's value and provide you with enjoyment!
As Chris (GMT Master) stated any modern precious metal timepiece will take a hit... Look at me with my AP44 scary s#iT but luckily I got the call that I would be receiving a credit. Buy what you want, enjoy it and be happy is all I have to say! Peace This! I x1,000,000 ;-)

If you're looking for RG on a leather strap in that price range I'd look at the 18K Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomčtre ŕ Quantičme Lunaire. I'd still take the Sky-Dweller, but it is a stunning reference. If i had to pick between the two, the Sky-Dweller would win

WG Skydweller for me in this case, it's my grail watch. But against any other watches, the AP will be my pick.
I actually think the AP Royal Oak stainless steel version is more beautiful than the rose gold version. The way the surfaces and cases were polished, it sparkles and shine better. |

Rose Sky any day. Simply a complication marvel. But don't pay retail.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. Although I can't say that you've made the decision any easier!
To everyone who suggested the WG or YG Skydwellers, certainly beautiful watches but all gold watches aren't really my cup of tea. The JLC Duometre that someone suggested is also a very cool watch (WG with black face is beautiful) but as a younger guy in my 20s, I have a proclivity towards slightly sportier looking watches. With regards to PP, Im fortunate to already own a 5712 amongst others, so nothing really in that price range that sings to me. The other Pateks I want all cost more than the AP and SkyDweller combined, so I'll hold off on that for now. I think I'm going to go with the AP for now. A year or so down the line I might sneak in and pick up the SkyDweller once the hype and prices come down a bit. Although by then I'm sure Ill be fawning over a new ceramic Daytona or GMT III or something! I'll post an incoming in the AP thread once I pull the trigger. Happy Sunday everyone, Go Knicks! |

I've really tried to like AP. I just can't get on board.
And I really lean towards a watch with nice aesthetics. To me, the SD blows any AP out of the water. It will also be much tougher, which I like a lot. While I don't regularly beat my watches, I like to know they can take the beating if necessary.

I am finding the Sky Dweller more and more appealing as time goes on. However I can not justify the price. Don't get me wrong I have spent a small fortune in buying and selling watches over the last ten years, but the cost of a SkyD is too much IMHO.
Does anyone know the weight in grams of the SkyD on bracelet? I would like to know that fact. Thx. |

agree, for that $ take a look at patek....
beyond that its a question of taste. my take: while interesting, the SkyD complication is not intuitive and difficult to read (albeit its an outsider impression as i dont own one). I think the aesthetics and finishing on the ROC are excellent and would go in that direction, especially if its significantly cheaper out the door....
