Unless you mean.............
Until (unless) further information is posted , the initial post is BOGUS, at least from my optic.
Think about it, the SELLER just told the BUYER, he never stated the watch was authentic (or not)...........then LOW AND BEHOLD - A MIRACLE...........the SELLER does a 180 degree turn and FESS'ES up the money????????????????? A reputable [seller] EBAY'er of high end watches will not play semantics [with words]: Well gee, you didn't ask me if the watch was genuine or not! You mean you paid $3,900.00 and expected a real watch? The listing said "APRIL FOOLS"...........................at the top, you mean you didn't notice? No thank you, I cannot digest this posting at all. |

Buyers be warned buy from an AD only anything else is a gamble. Say no to grey dealers. The only way you can be sure you are getting a real unused Rolex, a solid two year guarantee (repairs done by Rolex not some hack who works on Rolex and everything else under the sun) , and oh yes the most important issue the entire Rolex company backing up your watch not some hack who suckered a desperate Rolex owner to giving away his/her watch for nothing so he/she could turn around and make a profit off of desperation. Grey dealer (for the most part) = pawn shop owners on the net.
You buy a used drill or cheep DVD from a pawn shop not a Rolex or any other high end watch. |

The ebayer I dealt with was not a reputable watch dealer. Yes I know I did a very wrong thing. Moreover, the seller must have gotte nscared of me trying to sue him and just ended the ordeled by refunding the money.
His username is: eduardo7529 He had 8 feedback and another Rolex up for sale! |

Robertus,
I just re-read my last post; it did not turn out the way I meant it too. Please don't think I am attacking you or anyone else on the forum. I am like you and many others on the forum I get upset with human nature. Not many of us on this forum would ever dream of ripping someone off. I get mad when I hear all of these cases where some scum bag tried to rip some one off then when he/she gets caught they get stupid. It happens all the time and I tend to loose my faith in some of human kind when I hear these cases. So please do not think (I don't know if you did or not) that I was giving you a hard time I was not. |

IMO A lot of very nice old and new Rolex (sometimes even rare) are sold by pawnshops. Many very good watchmakers work on Rolex watches (including mine in Adelaide) and without them some of the older Rolex would be bastardised by rolex.com. I for one have always found Rolex Australia, for example, very difficult to deal with to the extent of writing them off if I wanted an intelligent conversation - try buying even just a springbar from them or a new GMT TT booklet as Steve found out. I'm still pushing for your copy Steve, via my GREY dealer in the States. Many very nice Rolex are bought and sold on Ebay, in MOST cases by very reputable honest sellers with worldwide reputations to protect. The alleged seller in this occasion had 8 sales - none were rolex watches. Two of the last three sales by him were about $20 with freight and the third was a bike. Buyer beware - but innocent until proven guilty. BTW, I have bought more than $50000 of items on Ebay with only a couple of small issues that were resolved - I have never sold an item on Ebay so can only speak from a buyers perspective. If you are careful (take advice and consider) you will be ok in the main part. Life is a gamble. Eddie.

I agree with directioneng, there seems to be a serious case of 'buy from an AD only' bias and I don't think it's fully justified. If grey market dealers and auction flippers are so bad then what about the dealers who are providing new watches to these guys out the back door for resale. I went to 2 Tourneau and Betteridge jewelers for a Daytona and was told that SS white or black are 12k or go on the list for however long it takes. This for a $7900 list item. I understand supply and demand but how come so many show up on ebay as unworn 2nd hand and so forth. Rolex isn't selling to these guys right? I am new here and don't mean to insult anyone but as always it's Buyer Beware, I will risk a little to save $2000 dollars, that is a few service calls at Rolex. I think it just comes down to research and getting to know who you are dealing with by asking the right questions of which this forum is a great help in providing. thanks for the input and now I'll see if Joe at U$AVEONTIME is a stand up guy like he seemed to be.
'Z' serial SS/18K white dial Daytona on the way! Thanks, Steve |

This thread has made me curious. When I searched this ebay id for completed auctions, the same datejust came up. It was listed twice. The first auction ended on Dec 13 and the second ended on Dec 19 with zero bids both times. Additionally, there is not a completed listing for the datejust for $3900 as the original poster indicated.
Maybe it's the attorney in me, but I always find it difficult to believe that people will cave upon the threat to sue. |
