I was there in February & looked at the 216570 white dial. They wouldn't budge with a discount.

Ross & Simions had a nice display.

So a week after my AD buffed out the scratch and the poor polish mark on the side opposite the crown, I notice that in the right light that both sides of the crown have been completely polished and it was a very poor job. You can only see it if the lighting is just right, but when you can see them, they are plain as day. So I went to my AD and said I paid for a new watch and I wanted to receive a new watch. The manager didn't even flinch. He agreed 100% He immediately went and searched the company's inventory and located one for me. He said once they get it in, we will look it over together to make sure it's perfect. I'm just glad I didn't have to do any haggling or arguing to get my way. I'm glad they are doing the right thing and not putting up a fuss. And yes that is a Rex on my coffee table lol

Did you ask your relative, if he was trying the watch when it arrived with his watch on the wrist?

These scratches come from trying 2 watches on the same wrist and the crown from the one watch is knocked into the side of the other one.

I am 99% certain, that these damages have not been there when your AD shipped out the watch

If you are happy now that is great. My first rolex was a 2000 model Gmt master so no chance of stickers there. My newly acquired polar explorer was from 2011 did still have most of the stickers on it

Was nice to peel them off I have to say

Wow...

Make a mental note to take a GOOD LOOK at any future purchases. Glad they were kick to rectify the situation...but I guess until the new one is in your hands it really isn't "made right" just yet.

Thanks for the update, and sorry for the headache of a situation!

Wow, that's one reason I took a pair of magnified reading glasses when I went for my Submariner. I studied that watch up close for at least 15 minutes making sure that everything was perfect.
Glad to hear that they are making it right for you. Are we to assume that when they polished it the one doing the polishing went too far and bungled up the crown also?
Keep us posted.

And what will happen with this molested watch now ?
There is obviously just one option, put it in the window as a young pre-owned one with a very serious discount, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen....

Feeling sorry for the guy who buys this "new" watch already.....

Seeing as this AD doesn't sell any pre owned, I wonder if they can auction it off to some third party or gray dealer???

No clue, But I don't really care. As long as they make it right and do the right thing, that's all that matters to me. It's about having the integrity to fix the issue when it arises that matters at this point. Thankfully they have the integrity to do the right thing...

I would not buy a new watch from an AD. Might've done it a long long time ago, but
wouldn't now. That said, IF I bought retail from an AD, they damn well would have the stickers in place, and not one scratch, thass for sure, brother!

New = No scratches.

Tell them to leave the stickers on.

Your 'joy' to take them off.

Glad it worked out!

Of course you will get scratches prob within days of wearing it however that is simply not the point, a new watch should be a new watch!!

Enjoy her, im also thinking of joining the Explorer club!!

My LV had a scratch on the bracelet when I received it. I called my AD immediately and had a new watch in a week. I am fine with scratches that I cause on the watch, but I won't stand for scratches by an AD on a supposedly brand new, factory-fresh watch.

Wow that's a bummer. Would not have expected such an event from a straight AD purchase. Glad it worked out though!

The AD I bought mine from removed the protective plastic in front of me. All there watches in the show cases still had the plastic and bezel protectors on. On a side note I went with a out of state AD the discount I received and the sales tax savings got the price below the non AD prices I had been quoted.

I got a discount off MSRP. I have bought several watches from them in the past so I would expect it. I also didn't pay sales tax as the watch was overnighted to a family member in another state at the AD's expense, and then just had it overnighted back to me :-)
