When I see a fake ANYTHING....watch, purse, obnoxious "don't hit on me" engagement cubic zirconium...

...I think of the semi-bald , one size too small Faux-Lo golf shirt wearing, twice divorced disbarred lawyer driving the fiberglass "Cobra" body slipped over a PoS Mustang 5 liter.

....It's just all so disturbingly fake...a caricature of what that person thinks the "high life" is.

Factually, mosy Rolex items are pretty much affordable. One of the checkers at my local Save Mart wears a late model SS Sub date and while he DID have to save for just over a year to get that I imagine that timepiece will remind him forever that most anything is attainable if one really wants it.

...that's kinda neat...

here here!

I have to add this as well..I LOVE the Aussies from down under!!! Thank you for bringing the US a REAL muscle car, the rebadged Holden Monaro!!, True it lacks the sunroof, cool cupholders and the Dual Zone climate system but it really makes the Rustang look bad and it pales in comparison...

I often wonder if the Mustang IS a replica of what a real 2 dr Muscle car should be ala the US Pontiac GTO! I mean where else can you get

a 400hp Ls2 Corvette engine?
Australian build quality?
The best seats ever made?
Fully independant rear suspension?
0-60 in 4.6 secs and a 1/4 mile time of 12.9@ 107ish?

Back on topic, though, it seems Rolex cannot be duplicated no matter the fake that it made. I often wonder what kind of person thinks a fake is equal to a Gen?

in some countries faraway from the good old US, people earn about something like 100USD a month. a rolex is UNATTAINABLE. period. the next best thing is of course a replica.
being a thief is the furthest thing from their minds.

Rolex earn the name for a reason. Their commitment to provide the very best. I don't have problems with people not being able to afford a Rolex. Most of the time, people can afford a Rolex but doesn't want to spend that much for a watch. Well understood. I don't like companies promoting Fake Rolex. These Folex companies want to earn business from Rolex, which is just wrong. For this reason, we should stop buying any Fake (watches, purses, and etc). They will be out of business for good. ~Hien

For me Rolex is a personal passion, I can not control what others do. I like the real Rolex, I like to buy from ADs only, and I like a discount usually 10% or more. I know that there are many who like Rolex their way. Grey dealers, eBay, used, new, and some like fakes. I see it as their issue not mine. My major Rolex concern is the never ending price increases. Will they ever end? I would hate to stop collecting Rolex due to the price being more than the value of a Rolex. Would any of us really spend $8,000 on a Sea-Dweller or DateJust if prices rose to this level?

was on the streets of Chinatown this week in NYC, seeing a show and satisfying my Thai wife's desire to buy good asian veggies..so we waded through vast crowds of people on the streets...every 15 feet(if that far)are rolex vendors, selling them as real, and people suspending belief that they are getting a $4 or $5K watch for $75.00 or $25.00 or whatever. Now ask yourself, do these people REALLY believe they're buying a rolex, or do they have a fantasy that they've bought a stolen rolex on the street. since NYPD is OUT undercover, they know they cannot safely sell STOLEN rolexes...those ROLEXES if obtainable, would be available through criminal 'fences' and those people sell to grey market houses...not on the street. I agree with prior comments. I used to think Folexes were cool and ok, but the more educated I become, the less friendly I am towards people who sell and buy them...just brings everyone down to the rolling in the mud syndrome...sellers and buyers.
best, dan

A good friend of mine collects reproduction watches. He's really into it and has spent a small fortune over the years. It's actually pretty neat. A. Lange & Söhne, Rolex, Vacheron etc etc. He regards them as an art.

Collecting fakes doesn't make you a goon.

best regards,

Joe

I think it's really amazing how easily the fakers have duplicated the laser-etched coronet and the chapter-ring branding.

I also think it's interesting that they're selling bogus complicated Pateks for $200 and fake skeleton-case Vacheron Constantins for $400.

I have not examined the genuine watches for those brands, so I don't know how easily identifiable those are as fakes by an eyeball test, but if they can make an automatic perpetual calendar complicated movement and sell it for $200, even if it is significantly inferior to the real thing, it really punctures the idea of the value for the cost, because those watches cost $45000 and the value of those is primarily in the clockwork (and the craftmanship, and the exclusivity, I suppose).

The fake Rolexes seem to be way off the real thing in terms of durability, even for the expensive ones that could pass an eyeball test by someone familiar with the watch. The fact that the $500 phony Rolex sports watches shown on a replica site linked in another thread are not waterproof at all really drives home the point that they've knocked off the look, but not the watch.
