The fashion here in Australia amongst the Bogans (is that a universally understood term? Wiki says the US equivalent is 'Redneck or White Trash') is to pick a word, any word, and then spell it differently so its 'individual'.
Example: Chenille bedspread (or quilt) Now spell it differently - e.g. Shenneal. On the other hand 'Social Climbers' or pretentious people often choose more traditional names that they associate with the 'upper class' - names like Elizabeth or William. What's in a name? One thing for sure is we don't have any choice in the matter - unless we decide to change it later.
