South African suply seems to be increasing. 2 months back there was 1 in my city, when I saw one in display window it sold the next day, and one replaced it immediately. I've committed myself to the 3rd. Still, no matter what the demand is, I want one. And that's all.

i was talking to my AD about the new GMT IIC and he just took it out of the safe and let me try it on. It got the plastic on and he even took it off so i can wear it and see how it feels. The watch looks pretty cool but its not for me.

They don't have any of the new ceramic ones where I live (Indiana). I did try on the old one to see how the size fit. It's a really nice watch, as is the sub.
If you know of an AD that has the GMT-IIc and that is willing to ship, please PM me. Thank you! |

I went to Wempe and Tourneau Time Machine in Manhattan, and Wempe said they had 200 people on a waiting list, and Tourneau said they might get some in February (she wasn't clear whether they were keeping a list).
I expect that Wall Street/law firm bonuses pretty well wiped out Rolexes and every other kind of luxury product in Manhattan and the immediate vicinity. I called that same day, the Friday before Christmas, and the one AD in my hometown had an SS and a TT in stock. I put a deposit down to hold the SS, but he said I could put it toward another watch, if I changed my mind. When I got in on Sunday, the TT was gone, and the salesman told me the SS would have been sold as well if I hadn't reserved it. And my hometown is poor. A Rolex is equal to three-months rent in Manhattan, but a year's rent (in a bigger place) in my hometown. |

200 on the waiting list? Call in to London Jewelers at Americana Manhasset, they have a pretty big selection. I called in advance the guy said they had 3, I bought one so 2 were left. I bought at MSRP, I will admit I tried to push for the discount, but the sales person didn't budge an inch. |

Of course, I also think it's likely that they'll dramatically increase the supply of Daytonas. It seems like they've managed to increase the supply from 1 or 2 per AD, per year to... more. There's a little bit of lag between the increase in production and watches sitting in dealer cases because of a backlog of orders, as well as speculators and grey market dealers snapping up watches from the AD to flip for a profit. But Rolex makes 750,000 watches a year. Scarcity is not integral to the brand identity. I don't think paying above SRP for any Rolex is a sound decision. |

All my local dealers have them at SRP.
There will always be people who are prepared to pay a premium for any goods, so they can be the first to own it,and all the best to them. For all those who bought at a premium and expect to make a killing, I am so laughing out loud. f |

I have a lot of friends who tried to skip the broker and just asked doormen about available apartments. I think they wound up paying a couple of hundred more a month in rent. The brokers are much better equipped to negotiate with landlords. |

In Houston, I have seen 2 at 2 different AD's so far (I got one of them). Lots of cokes and pepsi's, though. I think the SS GMT IIc is still in high demamnd, but perhaps not like it used to be.

Get a Rolex!!
I had an Audemars and it broke down at least 4 times and they put a new movement in it and it still conked out , they are rubbish. I've had Rolexs for the past 20 years and have never had one stop yet!! |

I see them both (LV and SS GMTII) at many of the AD's around my house. No big deal anymore. Either supply increasing on demand waning. I also have seen a number of Pepsi and Cokes. Wouldn't mind one of those, they look great..

Many references when they are first introduced have a premium attached to them untill supply catches up. People are trying to make a buck.
Wait untill the new Sub comes out. |

Here in Australia they are hard to come by. Very popular model. I ordered my SS GMTIIc in Nov 2007. I'll be waiting approx 9-10 months. Through my AD the recommended retail price (with any discount) is just over $8200.

I want the GMT-IIc, and they appear to be out in my area, so I'll wait and hope that the price increase doesn't happen. |

Nice purchase. I bought a new GMTc about 1 month ago but traded it for a white daytona the next day. Its the only Rolex I actually paid MSRP for. |

I walked into my local AD while doing some Christmas shopping on 11.29.
Spotted a shiny GMT-IIc in the case and asked to see it. Had to have it and ask for a discount, They said 10% off for cash and I was off to the bank to get some hundreds. Last week when I was at the Apple Store I stopped in and they said they only received one IIc unit since then. Maybe I hit it just right.

I think that the two-tone is still a spot more common than the SS version.

So, assuming I'm out of my state of residence, can I avoid tax on a new purchase? I'm really leaning towards the GMT IIc as the days go by.

I got my s/s GMT IIc msrp no tax so a 6% discount in November and a promise of a Daytona in '08. If their word is good it was a good purchase.
