Frankly, I feel that way about the entire five digit used market. I won't call anyone out, but I see asking prices on this form that are unbelievable. I conjecture that people pay these inflated prices under the assumption that they too will benefit from inflated prices when they eventually sell. However, this smacks of faulty logic since the price elasticity for an old (but not vintage) Rolex is not arbitrarily small - someone is going to be left holding the bag on a used $10,000 SD4000.

Agreed used market prices are turning into a circus show.

TRF prices seem to be a bit of a bubble at times - perhaps check other gray dealer sources for a more accurate reflection of the current LV prices that do not reflect the TRF communities' tendency to focus on minimal font changes and other small details. I seem to be seeing LV prices hover around $5.8k-$6.5k, depending on condition, which does not seem too outlandish given the final MSPR of $6.4. I own an LV and get a lot of joy out of wearing it. It is hard to explain, but it simply feels like a "special" piece. I have yet to see another out in the wild. Good luck with your decision

I know this much, that the sub lv is a sub .. yes, its prices are a little up there right now and that bubble will burst but the value of the LV will not go to zero or diminish significantly, as someone noted. For some reason, there is a big demand for them at the moment but it will not lose too much of its value ...

All I am interested in is that if I spend lets say $6500 on an LV, 5 yrs down the line, I will be able to get my $6500 back or if I can get 90% of it back, I am happy ... I think Rolex's annual price rises will take care of that..

There is no way that a so called LV bubble is going to burst. They have been discontinued. The supply of new ones is gone. What is out there is all there is. It is a beautiful iconic Rolex that grows on you and catches people's eyes like no Rolex I wear.

Prices are not going to go down. Especially for a NIB. The used market will steadily increase as well. In Japan they are hard to find already and are asking a hefty premium.

I did but I had to go to three cities to get two. Had to go there personally. Stumbled across the first one in Osaka (NIB V) and heard about the second one in Fukuoka. A great condition M.

Can't find them on the websites for the greys or ADs. Seems when they get one they don"t last long. If you find them they are commanding prices. I saw a D today pretty scratched up, no box or papers and they wanted over $7000 for it.
