I faced a similar choice recently. I had sold my 16610 (for no real reason) and deeply regretted it. I eventually picked up an ExpII at a good deal, which did nothing to fill the hole the missing Sub left so to speak. I believe that anyone who has a collection must have the Sub. I was at my AD and had the same decision as you but went for the SubC LN after about 5 minutes.
It isn't too dressy or attractive. It by no means is less of a tool watch. Every feature has function without added "bling". You can wear it in any situation, work or play.

The DSSD is a BBW (Big Beautiful Watch). It has similar traits and wearability as the Sub. I'd pick one up in a second now that I have the SubC. I'd personally leave the LV in the case - not a fan of the green... Just my opinion of course.

thanks for these thoughts - to be honest, i am actually starting to consider the Sub LN a little more. THough i already have a 'sub', the fact that it is the 50th LV still leaves me without a classic black sub model. The green Ceramic may be just a little too 'pretty' for what i want out of a rough & rugged weekend watch - something the black Ceramic would do well.

of course, the DSSD would do the rough & rugged thing exceedingly well, i imagine - but i would still be without a classic black sub (until i hunted down a vintage one) and that seems like an incomplete modern collection to me.

i do also worry that over time, the novelty of the bigness of the DSSD may wear thin (no pun intended) :) - its a beautiful watch though with the matte dial, domed crystal, inner and outer bezel/rings...
