Both would be great, but as a first I would say sub-c. The glidelock really makes the decision much easier and has spoiled other rolex's for me.

I think the newer Seadweller looks dated. If you want something truly collectible and vintage go with an old 1665. If you want a fresh modern look go with a SubC.

I'd have to vote SD, or 16610, imho ceramic is for ornaments.
Good luck in your decision |

My opinion - Sub first. It will distract you from everything else until you have one. First it's SD or Sub. If you get the SD next will be GMT or Sub? And so on. Get the Sub now and improve your focus later. That what I've found at least.

You are correct, people are expressing their opinions, it's just that I was unable to understand the basis of one or two. Like the person who dislikes all black/SS Subs - with the exception of 4mm in case size, they are remarkably similar to the SD, so why the aversion?
Another says the SD is not for everyone - well, no watch is for everyone; what does the poster think are the distinguishing characteristics of the SD that tend to make it attractive to a much smaller audience? Otherwise, I like all threads that pitch one watch vs another.

I don't have either but if I was choosing between the two, I'd pick the Sub C because I like the meatier look of the thicker lugs plus the new glide lock clasp. But I would love to have a '67 DRSD some day.

First off, thanks for all the replies. Somebody here asked which I prefer so here is my answer. I own 2 restaurants and a bar and I work about 80 to 90 hours a week. And when I say I work, I do everything from cook, dish, maintenance, server, busser and bartender, etc... I tell you that because I really like the SD but obviously it doesn't have a ceramic bezel and I am afraid I will scratch the heck out of the old style. But on the flip side, if I ever crack the ceramic bezel on the SubC then I have a much larger expense to repair. My buddy and I were joking about it (he has 3) and he said buy the SD and then buy another good knock off to wear at work. Frightening thought but he might be on to something. Ugh!
