After Tara in Buford, GA got hit, the store installed a sally port entrance with an armed police officer behind bullet-proof glass. He will not open the inside door until the outside door closes and locks behind you. When leaving, the outside door will not open until the inside door is closed and locked.
I know I feel safer shopping there than any other jewelry store in ATL. |

This kind of stuff makes me so mad.
Like home invasions...armed citizens/guards will solve this problem. No respect for people like this. Even if they are caught they'll just use our tax money for their lawyers, meals, prison accommodations, medical, etc... It's so sad that it has come to all of this. |

Armed guards don't necessarily help when local laws prohibit them from using their sidearms, unless life (as opposed to property) is threatened. In some cases the jewelry/watches are taken along with the guards gun if the crooks plan it right.

I agree considering all the various laws now days, but I consider a group of guys with sledge hammers coming into my store a threat to my life. Likewise for anybody forcefully entering my home. I had rather be judged by 12 than carried by six.

This one from last year is one of the most audacious I have ever seen, deep inside the middle of a pedestrian shopping mall:

Here's the guy from last year. So fidgety. Suprised that didn't raise a red flag. I was just in that store on Monday. Didn't think about it at the time but no security to be seen |

My wife works at Lenox and called me about this earlier today. I've been there many times, no visible security, which I'm sure will change. All three Skydweller models were in the window earlier this week. Just terrible to hear.

Some of the Rolexes in the stores are such tempting pieces for the smash and grab demographic - and right out front of the display cases - that the thieves do anything possible to get one - or 20

While nothing is the perfect safeguard, I think that having double doors requiring people to be buzzed in is a relatively simple measure that could make it a lot harder for thieves. |

The obvious key is that no one got hurt, and any AD strategy to thwart future heists has to take personnel and shopper safety as the first priority.
May they be apprehended and then brought to justice. As we all know, the hammer and bag men are usually do this as a fee job for the guy who knows how to fence them. |
