They always have the ''hype'' to make there products seem like gods. Not really, in my opinion.

Lol no chance.

I like it, and if I still like it in person, I'll only look to buy with a reasonable discount

A friend of mine has just bought his second this week after selling the first to a guy who thought there was a waiting list...

Quite a lot of hype about it in London, not readily available and staff asking if I could show them mine that I was sporting, however agree not sure Daytona levels will ever happen like 5 years ago but still some great interest. Had all the watchmakers at St. James HQ today showing a lot of interest as it was the first they had seen!

I've been to an AD and the salesman told me he received a few of those and that they sold very quickly, however, he didn't say that they had been sold the very same day and he didn't mention anything about a waiting list. He was excited by the beauty of the watch but still seemed pretty down to Earth telling me about it, I think it will be popular but I don't see the Daytona-like hype getting to this one.

Walked into Rolex by Wempe on 5th. Didn't have one on display, but it could be ordered and would be available immediately.

I don't think so, even if I own one.

But then I also don't understand the Daytona hype, I would choose all other Rolex watches (Oyster Professional) before Daytona.

Here is the part that really caught my attention:

THEY HAVE A WAITING LIST.

They had gotten "a couple" in, and they went to the "good" customers the same day. They don't expect a shipment soon, but there are already several people waiting for them, and again, the "good" customers would have first chance to purchase. They candidly told me that it would be a while... a LONG while in their opinion before any average person could walk in off the street and pick one out of the case.

This sounded to me a LOT like the SS Daytona craze of 2007-2008. Do you think we are headed for the same kind of hype?
I think it just depends on what area you are in. Many people on here have picked them up easily to my knowledge. Now, I noticed you are from San Diego, which could partly be the reason. I feel that these more small townsy AD's might be a better shot honestly. But then again, I haven't tried getting one for myself yet. I love the watch, but really don't know if it's something I really want. I already own a GMT2C, so I'd probably sell that one for the other... Just don't know if I want to

But any way, GoodLucK !

No but was talking to a knowledgeable watch dealer today who said Rolex have already made a ceramic Pepsi and have bonded the two colours, so maybe there is hope of this coming out after all, now this will have the hype.

I'm not talking ceramics here, but anything like this leaves me highly skeptical.

Rolex makes the NSA seem like a bunch of rank amateurs.

As for a Pepsi, I believe it will be done eventually, but if it has been done, I don't believe anyone is spilling the beans.

Don't be fooled by them it's just a marketing tactic to create demand by making the watch seems hard to come by due to " high demand" - a color change to the bezel is no big deal. This watch will be sitting around with a discount down the road. It will never be a Daytona situation for sure.

Another no from me. The "hype" is false and hasn't any substance to last.

I have to agree that while there will be an initial rush to have the latest thing. Then demand will settle down and we'll do it all over again next summer with a Coke, Pepsi or Root Beer.
