I prefer the solid end links and the diver extension on the 16610 over the 14060. I prefer the clean look of the 14060. That is why I prefer the Seadweller 4000 over both the 14060 and 16610.

back in 2005, when i was at a rolex dealer making my purchase, the SeaDweller was $4700. the Sub date was $4200 and the no-date was about $3800.

i bit the bullet and went for the best possible watch. i felt the SD was more unusual, heavier and more interesting. it doesnt have the cyclops and the dial is a bit smaller than a sub.

i think you are looking at $1300 cash plus your watch to get a subdate and even more for the SD. its worth the upgrade since these are simply the ultimate watches. go price a new sub, it's crazy expensive.

Thanks.

Yeah, i'm not interested in a new sub. I'd rather have someone else take the first hit before me.

When it comes down to it, I'll have to make sure that the price is justifiable. My preference is the sub date, but not at a crazy cost.

I have to say I'm shocked at how many people prefer the 14060!

I tried to warn you about the term 'trade up' in the closed thread... :)

THe 14060 is a nice watch. shared my story with you because i pushed myself to spring for the more expensive watch with the most features. frankly the price disparityin the upgrade is not that much money and you will own the watch forever. i think its an upgrade but i respect those who like the 14060 for its clean lines. where in FL are you ?
my SD was purchased at the tourneau's on Worth ave in Palm Beach FL. contrary to most posts, they were great to deal with

My thoughts would be around a $500 difference between a comparable Sub and Sub Date to buy either seconhand. But to trade in, you're getting wholesale for the Sub, and paying retail for the Sub Date, so the difference would blow out to $1500 changeover.
Right! That is an excellent explanation. Much is said about people can preserve the watches value but clearly just said Punk Jr is that when you sell you have to practically do it as wholesale and when you acquire you have to pay retail.
Be very careful with purchasing only for keep the value of your money as it does not work that way.

That's what I did and then re-sold the 16610 to fund my current GMT II Pepsi. Good luck.
