Somehow, I think they know what they're doing, and it's no different than the appeal they have using Eric Clapton or Roger Federer. If you are buying a swiss timepiece for its craftsmanship, you're likely buying a Patek Phillipe or Vacheron, a Phillipe Dufour or an F.P. Journe. Rolex doesn't choose its ambassadors haphazardly. They know full well the demographic of the buyer who feeds the brand.

Everyone is always convinced that advertising doesn't work on them. Look around your house, and you'll be able to trace most purchases to advertising, whether commercial or simply through a chain of acquaintances. Whether we look to reviews, an infomercial, an article, or an endorsement, advertising eventually reaches us. And it works because we don't see it happening.
