Rap music...

Kidding! My father has worn the same 1675 for nearly 50 years. It's in my blood.

A friend of mine has a YG Day Date1. That was the first time I saw a Rolex watch!

I came across this forum and began reading and this helped me to get to know the brand better

Joined the forum as a member a few weeks later. Then bought the first Rolex - new from the local AD. The excuse was some milestone achieved

After this simply got into the habit of adding a new Rolex whenever I could afford

My wife and I were must married in 2002 and that time our practices were starting to take off so we decided to treat ourselves after all the hard work we put in during grad schools. So we walked in an AD and purchased a two tone datejust for me and a 26mm tt datejust with diamond dial for her. We both wore them daily for five straight years before starting to build a collection.

Always loved my dads 1964 GMT. Played wearing it occasionally when I was a kid and had to a rolex as an adult. Now I own his GMT as well

When I was just a student pilot many years ago I came across an ad in an aviation magazine advertising the GMT Master II. As soon as I saw it, I had to have one. Took many years until I could afford one and the day I turned 40 I went out and bought one. Now as an airline pilot, as far as I am concerned it is the only watch to have.

Got tired of storing/retrieving watches from the bank during college. Sold the rotation and bought my first Rolex - a watch that can be worn 24/7. The gym, pool, even the dorm's can.

Peace of mind.

First time I saw this

Didn't even know it was a Rolex, just wanted that blue watch. Took me 10 years to get it. Sadly after I've bought a few more I hardly ever wear it and think about selling it.

I had a Seiko that sucked in water when I jumped into a pool.

The jeweler who fixed it explained that the crown is the weak part of any watch except a watch with a screw-down crown like a Rolex; a week later a friend offered me his Submariner for a REALLY good price and I jumped on it.

I've had three or four others since settling on my TT DJ (see avatar) but I'll never wear another brand...

Rolex is a symbol of achievement and perfection in engineering. Some of the greatest and well known icons have worn a Rolex. I am proud to wear one of the greatest brands in history.

I always admired them and I decided one day I wanted one. I happened to tell a friend of mine of my intentions and she said, "You should let me get it for you, my dad is an AD back east." At that point my fate was sealed, I got the "immediate family" discount.

After having "collected" a drawer full of cheap, but still interesting, quartz watches, I decided that if watches were to be my thing, I need to commit to some luxury watch or another.

I wound up in a Rolex AD and fell in love with a 114270.

The rest is history.

Reading National geographic magazines and extensive worldwide travel got me interested in the brand. Decided to go with a SS GMT 2 C bought brand new at Bucherer in Frankfurt on a trip in 2010 . After a while I felt like I needed another and subsequently on my recent trip to Milan I picked up a TT Daytona with a blue Arabic dial as its an excellent accessory to my motoring hobby. Have been doing a fair amount of snorkelling in recent years so that will be excuse to get my next target- a TT submariner with the new sunburst dial.
