If your first Rolex, would enjoy the AD EXPERIENCE!!!
If this is part of your collection, get the best price from a TRF trusted seller. |

No because the sickos like me want another watch everyday! it doesn't mean anything is wrong with the watch at all. There are serious flippers among us.

Personally I think you should not worry too much....there are just tons of reasons. I for once (not only for watches)....tend to upgrade almost every year or two. If you worry to much, just make sure when you buy, it comes complete with all boxes and paperwork (original invoice will be even better!)

If used is absolutely unpolished then its a toss up... However there is the issue of the warranty

I prefer pre loved from a trusted TRF seller. You always get a great watch at a fair price. I'm not one that needs the AD experience. I like value for my dollar.

I usually prefer new with a good discount.
Having the warranty card in my name is a good feeling when I think about my kids taking over my collection one day. |

Only you can decide if it is worth it. I have bought new and used and I was happy with both.

New and used - depends on the specific deal at hand.

I never buy new. Its all part of the enjoyment to hunt down and collect great used watches at a great price. In the process of hunting you get to acquire knowledge and insight into the brand and model. There are terrific bargains in used watches...if you do your homework.

I bought my TT DJ new, but back then rolex gave a 50% discount to airline employees... kind of hard to beat!

For the extra $1,500 on the new one you get a full two year warranty and two more years on the back end before service is due.
If the watch is definitely a keeper, then financially that's about it. There are numerous other things already mentioned, some personal preferences and some esoteric, that may enter into the decision. My take is this - If the watch is definitely a keeper (especially if it's your first) then I would tend to go new. Resale value shouldn't enter into it since you won't be flipping it and in any case the newer watch will almost always be worth more than the older one, all other things being equal. So it's about getting value. You do that by buying right, but that holds true whether buying new or used.

after five years of visiting this forum, I finally realized the amount of people who flip watches to fund new ones. This makes a huge market for pre owned watches. If you buy smart, you can find the right watch for a significant savings... buy used.
The AD experience is overrated. Unless your AD hooks you up with a high end prostitute, I don't see the advantage. |

Bought my first one new from AD, that was the last new one. I agree, buy used from trusted TRF seller and save the cash for your next price.

I would guess that you could get more of a discount on the used Sub than $1500, make a riduculous, but not insulting, offer and negotiate from there. Been there, done that and saved a lot!

I like new cars, watches and houses. It doesn't always have to make financial sense. However, I would buy a used Lamborghini or Ferrari because I can't afford a new one and the depreciation is crazy on them.
