There you have it...pics can make anything look more boring or nicer than it really is.

In this case, the RO bracelet is my absolute favorite of any brand. The shimmer and finish in person is outstanding. Same with their new ceramic watches...eh in pics, amazing in person as the ceramic just shimmers like crazy.

I also did not like the Nautilus bracelet in pics, but was quite fond of it in person.

AP is still nicer than the PP bracelet though ;)

Hey Kilyung. Just curious. What watch brand do you own most of?

I love these two watches. That DJ II is gorgeous. !

We'll it seems I am in the minority here, I have tried on many AP and I have not liked one of them. I find them quite dull and underwhelming. They look great in pics but I would go the DJII easily.

Very lopsided comp.....one is about double the price of the other. I pick the AP.

That said....If you add an ALS to the options....I pick the ALS. LOL.

Easy choice; the AP. Try and source a blue dial 15400 - it a beauty.

Cheers!

Seeing an AP RO in motion gives a much better sense of its intrinsic beauty, high quality finish, and complex interplay between brushed/polished surfaces. These are for 15300 (39mm vs 15400's 41mm), but they get the point across nicely.

A nice 15300 review on youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64uEe2P5ZMk

And a very nice short video of another 15300:

I'm with you...aesthetics come in to play for me. I have to like the look of any watch to put it on my wrist and there is nothing I like about the look of the AP RO.

I know there's a lot of posters who are in love with the AP RO, I just happen to not be one of them....that's what makes our collective affection for watches so unique.

I'd go with the DJII...

My Fiancé says both are beautiful watches but says that the DJ II just pops. I think you really see that difference in SaddleSC's wrist shot comparison. That said, she also has a 116234 that she just loves too.

I am seeing DJ II pricing around 7 - 8K and 15400 pricing around 12 - 13k. So not double. But a healthy 5k or so.

In terms of bling or pop, I'd probably tend to agree, but that's just 1 aspect.

Since you asked which is the one to go with in totality, the AP.

I have a Daytona which has more "pop" per se than my 15400, but feel overall if I could keep one of the 2, it might be the 15400.

Improviz thank you for posting the YouTube video links. I think I have a better appreciation for the beauty of the AP after watching. I may have to resist my urge to buy now so I can save the extra dough needed for the AP.

Anyone have any random DJ II & 15400 dial pics. I think this May be a factor.

Both are fantastic, but for me, the "too small" hands when compared to the dial markers on the DJ II just spoil it. The AP is double the price but pretty close to the "perfect" watch.

Thanks! You will find plenty of excellent 15400 dial pics in the Audemars Piguet forum of this site, worth a look!

Same here, those two videos put the RO at the top of the short list...from there it was a matter of deciding the size and dial color, and pouncing!

Does the DJII come on jubilee? If so, that would make the choice tougher.

It is funny how people see the same thing differently. I agree with you totally obviously. In pictures they look fantastic, exciting, etc etc but in real life I was nearly shocked by how much I didn't like any AP RO or ROO. Was nit impressed by finishing, dimensions or the detail

Side by side

I happened to be in the Rolex boutique in Chicago with a friend a while back. He was looking at a DJII and I happened to be wearing my AP 15300. In his view the DJII was too blingy. We crossed the street and he bought an AP 15400.

AP - just look at the details and you'll see why.

That being said - Rolex is a more identifyable brand.
