If you fly over to Italy you can get one for £38K. Luckily I still don't really like the brown so I aint going nowhere.

It s a nice watch and the demand is not so high, pls remember we are not representing the real world ,also consider with even 25percent discont the dealer makes more dough than on an SS Sub.

Should hit 30% on used already - 20% Vat ( not payable on used goods ) plus 10% depreciation as it's used! From a business perspective I rang around a few grey dealers to get a used price on this and they quoted £20-24k on a £50k retail price - says it all really.

So $31k to $38k USD? Sorry but have a hard time with that. I can tell you that grey dealers I know paid mid $50's USD for it. At $31-38k I will take as many as you can point me too. Again I know of nobody getting 30% off let alone 55-60% off as you are suggesting which is way way below AD cost.

It's Rolex, and it's the only platinum sports model. The platinum day date 2 is around $50k from a grey dealer, i personally think this and the day date 2 should be the same msrp, but hey, it's got a ceramic bezel so it's more. It's a rational price because they can get it, and as AP has shown us, its much better to overprice your watches and cut prices later on, than start too low

I call BS on those grey dealers. If I'm wrong I'll buy one right now!

This is used price not new price that grey dealers will offer you if you want to part with your platinum daytona - tough market they need to make profit too hence low ball offers

Again I have to say pure rubbish and I have yet to see a used one hit market. I also know the few out there grey dealers paid mid $50's. Lastly show me a Rolex sports model selling for 40% of it's retail price. Sorry but this is pure nonsense. It is ok if you don't like the watch and think it is expensive but let's be a little bit realistic here.

I really like this model, saw it in person at the Wynn Rolex store. Quite depressing that even "IF" it were discounted 30%, I could never afford one
Oh well. I'll be happy seeing it posted on the daily WRUW or incoming threads and live through you guys

Tried one on the other day... That thing has some weight to it, but definitely not interested at 80k or whatever retail is.

I also had the opportunity to try the Pt. My first sensation was "This is weird".

Nice looking but with something... Wrong. Didn't think about the price, as I would never be able to get there.

Nice watch! To be realistic, it is very hard for AD to sell a new Rolex watch at anything more than 20% discount. I remember when I bought my WG DDII at Los Angeles Rolex Boutique store, the manager of the AD had to make a long call to the store owner and the Rolex corporate to approve 18% discount.

Grey market is another story. Personally I wouldn't make such a big purchase from grey market.

BTW, if anyone know that any AD in US is offering this for 30% off, let me know. I have a friend who is in the market for this.

HI new to the forum, I personally think the watch is priced reasonable compared to other brands. I think most people think the watch is expensive due to the brand image. But compare to other watch makers with offer PT its actually a bargain. I'm picking mine up next month and very excited, I saw the watch in Hong Kong a couple of days ago and in person its extremely nice, and heavy.

Ring a few London dealers yourself saying you want to sell your platinum daytona and you will see that in UK the dealers in London will not offer you over 25k gbp for your used Daytona platinum - it's market rates for a dealer they are not going to offer you 30-35k gbp and hope to sell for 40k not enough margin in it for them and London used watch dealers especially will low ball you.
Remember we are not talking Rolex AD buying your watch but used watch dealers!

On a similar note take your SS Rolex to a used watch dealer asking to part exchange or sell and you will be quoted same 45- 50% approx of what you paid for it that is trade prices for you not private sale prices or retail prices.
Traders have margins to maintain at your expense.

I understand traders have margins and I also am quite familiar with pricing and will tell you not around these parts and any dealer you spoke to is full of it!!! No Rolex sports model sells for 45% of retail price and if you get offered that find an honest upright dealer and move on!! Sorry but grey dealers I know again would gladly pay 30% off for platinum Daytona and that I know as a fact! Good luck also finding a used platinum Daytona let alone one for 30% off! Enough of this for me and back to reality and ever so glad I don't live in the UK!

The VAT has already been paid...

It's like saying someone going and buying a car for 120k would be no worse off driving out the show room and selling it straight away for 100k.

I have yet to see a pre-owned one surface the market and I live in Hong Kong which likely has the most grey and pre-owned dealers and Rolex AD's per capita. And believe me I frequent these shops at least 2-3 times a week. Please let me know when you come across one because I haven't seen a pre-owned one in HK or in London.

There are two listed in sales corner, no where close to 30% off
