Have owned both and much prefer the Sub - I think it is more comfortable to wear and the dial looks slightly larger than the one fitted to the SD - both are good watches though so really just a matter of personal taste.

Both great watches, but I prefer the uniqueness Sea Dweller over a Sub. With that said, I think my next Rolex will be a meters first, sub, no date.

The SD is heavier when you put it on, but, you soon forget that. I like them both.

Sea dweller has the date wo the cyclops, that's what I would go with.

For me the Sub has less long term cost and risk of bigger repair bill.

My very first Rolex was the SD and I had it for 2 days before I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a sub date.

Reason I did was that I found it too thick and too heavy. I like to wear my bracelet loose and it was always on one side of my wrist or the other and never in the middle because of that.

The sub on the other hand suffered from neither of those and I found my perfect watch which I wore for a decade until it was sadly stolen!

I replaced it with another sub date only this time the LV!

rip the cyclops off a sub , and have the very best of both , unless you think the other way , then you would have the very worst of both ,,,,
try them both on , and just keep the one you dont want to take off.

I own three Subs and a Deep Sea. The Deep Sea is a monster watch and it may be to big for a lot of people. My Deep Sea gets a lot of wrist time. If you are able to do both, a Sub C and a DSSD go for it. If you can only do one, The Sub C.

They are both awesome, and every watch collection should have a 16610 and 16600. If you want something a little different......Maybe try the Pelagos?? I love mine.....But then, I love all my watches.

IF they are the same price, go for the SD .. you are geting more bang for the buck.
Initially the price diff betwen them was only $300 ...

oh.. forgot to add .. the bezel. of the SD has deeper cuts/grooves.. it shines or reflects light more strongly than the sub....

I went through this process myself a year ago...in the end it was an easy decision and I went for the SD 16600 for a few reasons:

1. It's a deeply impressive watch and ultimately more capable than the Sub
2. The extra bulk gives it a little more presence on the wrist
3. They don't make SD's anymore so probably a slightly better investment
4. I see lots of Subs in the wild, but never seen another SD

I have now added a new TT Sub 116613 which is lovely, but my SD is still my daily wear...and I do everything with this watch, no holds barred.

The SD16600 is just an awesome Rolex. The DSSD on the other hand is just WAY too big. I prefer the 16600 over the 16610 just to be out of the herd. I like the 16610 but not the new C Rolexes.
