I want people to help me justify my absolutely insane behavior of collecting watches that I really shouldn't be buying. Lol. Nobody close to me is really into watches like I am. So this forum is good at enabling me.
If my friends and co workers knew how much money I was spending on watches, they would probably have me sent to the funny farm by now. GH

I was sending iMessages discussing one of the threads here on TRF Vintage in real-time last night as I posted in several of the threads. I was exchanging messages with a member of TRF. This is a member here that I have never met face-to-face, but we share similar tastes in vintage Rolex watches. That is how far my watch obsession has gone.
For me, it started with a fascination of automatic watches and the timekeeping ability that they possess. I started with Breitling and Doxa (modern) and actually loathed Rolex because of what I thought of the average Joe owner of a Rolex watch. I first delved into modern Rolex and have slowly began to migrate towards vintage Rolex. Although I buy both vintage Rolex and Tudor as well as modern Tudor and Rolex, I ABSOLUTELY PREFER vintage of both. It is nice to be a part of a community that 'gets it'

Originally came for education prior to my first Rolex purchase, and have stayed for the education and the banter...only a few fora have such open discussion! And from what I've learned here, we have set up a watch club and online discussion group! Thanks to all the collective wisdom here!

Great topic Clay
I have been participating here for approx 5 years because this is an important passion and this is how I feed it. I specifically come here to learn about Rolex vintage and modern, buy, sell and develop relationships that have become an important part of my life |

I first came here for some information. I love the skilled photography of so many members on here (sadly, I am not as good at it!). Unexpectedly I made some good friends here too! The GTGs in London and Brussels took things even a bit further, as you can actually meet up and talk watches face to face. I've learned a lot thanks to you guys! I am here to stay |

I love vintage rolex watches. This place is an amazing place to learn and discuss our passion. Also I met some awesome honest people here that I met , ate with , and talk to more often than some family members. Still others I have not met in person but somehow felt comfortable enough to send thousands of thousands off to and magically a piece of rolex history shows up at my door in a box! It's all about the confidence in the folks here and the passion we enjoy that binds the community. Rich

Have really got into Rolex, particularly vintage Sports, and this forum is the ideal place in which to further develop that interest - it is the sort of place where you can literally learn something new every day suych is the wide level of knowledge and expertise on the forum. Fairly amazing facility!

Like many I started coming to TRF for purely self serving purposes. I wanted advice, to buy or sell. I wanted to learn about the watches that I admire so much.
Now, after sometime I still do ask for some advise or try and sell something but it's more. I attempt to help others that I may be in a position to do so and contribute in a meaningful way. |
