Sub. And if you can, go for a 114060 or 14060. Better looking watch IMHO.

Sub versus GMT II
The GMT is not a Sub.
Iconic, legendary, subtle, no polished links, it just is what it is and for me beats the GMT hands down. The GMT is cheaper second hand so see that whichever way you will. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I asked myself exactly the same question recently and, despite the fact that my wife and I travel frequently, I chose the Sub. Although I am not a diver, I prefer the appearance and function of the Sub's bezel and the uniformly brushed appearance of the Sub's bracelet.

Flip a coin. Just once. You can't lose...both are great, classic (indeed, iconic) watches.
Whichever you buy, five will get you ten you'll want to buy the other, in time. I had the same dilemma in 2002. Went with the GMT, as I had an Omega Seamaster Professional, but did not have a watch with a GMT complication. In 2009 I bought the Sub Date. I'm happy (and lucky) to own both. That said, when you visit the AD to try them on, just go with your gut instinct. The one you flat out like just a hair more than the other. Logic and reason are helpful only in the event of a true tie. Enjoy the purchase... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Tough question!!! So tough I ended up buying a 1675, 116710LN and a Sub LV. I didn't care for the larger Maxi Case. The 1675 and Sub LV get the most time outside the winders. My 116710 LV stays in the winder the most. Even with scorching temps in Kyoto this summer I didn't need to adjust the bracelet at all. I only dive in Maui so there is no need for a wetsuit extention for me. All in all if I had to do it over again, I'd only buy the old sub or 16710 or older (pre maxi case). I do however like the maxi dial on the Sub LV and the 116710LN. I do not like the PCL's at all!!!! After I send it into RSC I will brush the links out!!! Hope this helps!!!

I went through the same thought process and finally bought the GMT II in 2011. Main reasons were: I work overseas, a few time zones away from my family and friends; I travel for work; I do not dive. Very happy with the purchase.

This is my personal opinion. Buy the one you like. With respect to the old version are both cute. On the contrary if we look the ceramic ones the Submariner is beautiful like the old version but the big numbers carrying the GMT bezel look horrible and not elegant. Again .. it is my personal opinion.

I like the GMTII better for many reasons:
1- The GMTI function (duh!) 2- The PCL 3- The bezel is more fun with military time 4- Not as common as the sub 5- Looks good on a leather strap |
