Yes Dolores, this is a silly topic.

Please get back to discussing important subjects, like "can I wear my Submariner in the shower?"

Perhaps it is unique to the new Glidelock? This method works best whilst wearing the watch, not as well when off the wrist. Just tried it with my GMT too and the coronet flips up for me. I guess you can experiment. Or just use a nail like everybody else
Good luck and enjoy.

Never thought of that before, so I looked at mine. Not sure if it's part of the forging or attached later, & my watch is very definitely real. The coronet is very solid though. I wouldn't worry about it.

Pop it open with my fingernail at the coronet. It better not come off!

Its funny I never thought of holding the sides but on another watch I have the clasp is very stiff and I actually do hold the sides and pull to open it. Tried it on my subc and it's a bit tough to get enough purchase so I'll stick to nailing it.

Disagree. We are talking about a common way of opening a Rolex clasp and an alternative. Some may worry about the coronet, so the alternative is nice for them. On the flipside, many could not care less about it, so if the thread is not to their taste they are free to move on.
