Carol Connelly: OK, we all have these terrible stories to get over, and you-... Melvin Udall: It's not true. Some of us have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But, a lot of people, that's their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but that you're that pissed that so many others had it good. This is why you need a gold or platinum watch. You'd IMMEDIATELY notice the absent weight on your wrist.

Curious was it on a strap or the fliplock clasp?
Seen it done with straps never seen it with bracelet... |

Amongst other things I'm actually a professional magician and have not performed a watch steal in my act for years. Risk is too high for the item to be damaged.
As for the mechanics of the steal itself with the proper directed misdirection and audience management it's very possible to perform the steal while the spectator is wearing a watch on a bracelet versus a strap. And also NATO straps never tried or ran into, so can't weigh in on that. |

I've always been curious, what keeps magicians from like stealing watching/wallets/jewelry like in their spare time. Maybe the misdirection and stuff require people to be in like an audience setting, not just walking down the street. I know I'm always careful, especially in like bad neighborhood and when traveling, but always scary when someone can just lift something off you without you noticing.

So if something goes missing, just blame the magician?
My insurance company should be okay with that excuse.

I was pretty much thinking the same thing; I wonder if he has a pocket full of Subs(titutes).

Pretty strong effort on his part to attempt that on clearly a high end watch.
Of course, he might not have a clue on the value of the watches he's lifting Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I'd be worried if that happened to me. Just means that I am not 100% situational aware of my surroundings.

Amazing story. I've seen magicians remove watches with straps but never a bracelet. Undoing a strap and pulling the watch away is much easier than undoing a bracelet and then slipping it off the wrist. Must have been a pretty good magician!
